Our Services
Educational Programs
- English classes: elementary, intermediate, conversation and citizenship
- Interest classes: Cantonese Opera Karaoke, dance, Tai Chi, craft, Chinese boxing, Chinese sword.
- Monthly seminars on topics such as health and wellness, legal, taxation and seniors' benefits. Professionals in the respective fields will be invited as speakers.
- CCECA's weekly newsletter, "Senior Garden", publicizes our activities and welcomes articles by members.
- Our reading room and library on the 2nd floor are open to members all year round.
Social and Recreational Programs
- Social gatherings, birthday parties, festive celebrations, guided tours, dancing parties, movie shows, Collective Kitchen and Collective Garden are some of our regular programs.
- CCECA's Cantonese Opera Group and Senior Choir provide entertainment for nursing home residents on an on-going basis and actively participate in internal as well as external functions.
Community and Outreach Services
The following social services are rendered free of charge to seniors and new immigrants to assist them in managing issues that arise in their everyday life:
- Provision of information and supportive counseling
- The filling out of forms and application for social benefits
- Translation and interpretation
- Escort service and arrangement of transportation
- Telephone reassurance and referral service
- Home and hospital visitations
- The Community Support Group provides activities and services to homebound seniors to enable them to build friendships and learn about their community.
- The Special Needs Support Group provides social activities for seniors with disabilities, early dementia or other special needs.
Health Services
- CCECA's Wellness Center provides free health services to seniors aged 50 and over. Services include blood pressure measurement, blood glucose spot check, provision of information on health issues, and referral service.
- Classes/workshops on health issues, e.g. Self-managing Arthritis, Getting to Know Diabetes, etc. are held on a regular basis.
- A podiatrist visits the center monthly to provide foot care services.
- A registered pharmacist visits the center monthly to provide consultation services on prescription drugs.
- Flu vaccination and mammogram services are available annually.
Longevity Group
- All CCECA members aged 70 and under are eligible to join. This group conforms with our mission of promoting the spirit of mutual help and support
- When a group member passes away, the group will liaise with the funeral homes to make arrangements for the funeral, and condolence money will be given to the registered recipients.
Volunteer Services
- In view of our mission, the CCECA welcomes everyone who is interested in joining as a volunteer to promote our services and contribute to the community.
Rental of Facilities
- Our auditorium and function rooms are available for rent. They serve as ideal venues for functions such as seminars, conferences, dances and banquets.
