Atraumatic Tooth Extraction; Implant Site Development

  • It is well known that a significant amount of bone loss occurs in the first few weeks after a tooth is extracted.  Most of the bone loss usually occurs in a bucco lingual direction and this seems to be related to the fracture of the buccal cortical plate of bone during normal extraction procedures.  This lecture will discuss atraumatic tooth extraction techniques leading to maintaining the integrity of the buccal cortical plate and the grafting of the extraction socket in preparation for future implant placement.

12:00 PM

Dr. Carl Young  - Palomino Room A
Bone Preservation and Reconstruction for Successful Implants

  • Alveolar bone quality and quantity can often compromise or completely preclude implant placement.  This presentation will cover what general practitioners and surgeons can do, and what our patients should know about alveolar bone preservation and reconstruction.

Dr. Gordon Chin - Palomino Room B
The Top 5 Things to do before Selling Your Practice

  • If you’re thinking of selling your practice in the next few years, you need to prepare ahead.  Learn what you need to do to prepare yourself and your practice.  It’s not how much you sell for, it’s how much you get to keep.

Dr. Al Graas - Palomino Room C
Treatment of Transverse Problems in the Mixed Dentition

  • A current, evidence-based approach to diagnosing and treating transverse problems in the mixed dentition will be presented.  The rational of effective and efficient appliance design will be illustrated.

Dr. Nicolas Loebel, Ondine Biopharma - Quarterhorse Room
Photodynamic Disinfection: Shedding New Light on Periodontal Diseases

  • Traditionally, non-surgical adjunctive treatment options for periodontal diseases have been limited to antibiotics.  As resistance to current antibiotics continues to rise, what alternatives are available to clinicians?  Photodynamic Disinfection, known in the dental world as Periowave, destroys gram-negative bacteria and inactivates the virulence factors associated with periodontal diseases.  Dr. Loebel will review the mechanism behind Photodynamic Disinfection.
