The Action Canada Network has a new name – the Solidarity Network. For a transitional period the acronym "ACN" will appear with the new name.

Delegates approved the new name and a new structure at a pre-assembly administration meeting held in Halifax on March 26. The new name, structure and the overall direction of the network was also strongly endorsed by the over 90 delegates who attended the full Solidarity Assembly from March 26 to 28. John Reilly from the Edmonton Social Planning Council represented Alberta at the assembly.

The Solidarity Network now has an Administrative Council as its main decision-making body, made up of one representative per provincial/territorial coalition and national member organization. It will meet every six months before solidarity assemblies. This will free up time at assemblies for information sharing and other discussions about building and strengthening coalitions. Two assemblies will continue to be organized each year, one in Toronto, and one in another region.
