CLC launches campaign to address
declining living standards

Is work working for you? That’s the question the Canadian Labour Congress and its affiliates are asking as they launch a drive to improve the living standards of working Canadians.

The goals of the campaign are to:

  • Make improved living standards for working people the central focus of public policy in Canada;

  • Establish a legislative agenda at the municipal, provincial and federal levels to improve working peoples’ standard of living;

  • Demonstrate the ‘union advantage’ and promote the organization of workers in unions.

This will be a 10-year campaign to reverse the decline in living standards workers have experienced during the last decade.

This year on Labour Day, the Canadian Labour Congress released a set of social well-being indicators. The plan is that each year an update will be released, focusing attention on progress made since the previous year.
