Health

The health, well being and longevity of all of our dogs are very important to us. Brightburn Airedale Terriers are carefully screened for health problems prior to breeding. In addition to this screening, both sire and dam have hips OFA certified (free of hip dysplasia), and eyes are CERF certified annually. All puppies have tails docked; dew claws removed, and are vet-checked, vaccinated and de-wormed before they are placed in their new homes. We stand behind the health of each of our puppies with a comprehensive health guarantee. As a responsible breeder, we sell all puppies on a non-breeding contract, and ask that puppies not intended to be shown in conformation or obedience be spayed or neutered at the appropriate age. This serves to help prevent irresponsible breeding practices, and to help in the battle against the growing number of unwanted dogs in animal shelters throughout the country.

Responsible Ownership

Airedale Terriers are energetic, intelligent and wonderful dogs, but they are not for everyone! Cute little puppies are often purchased on a whim, without proper breed knowledge on the part of the buyer, and many of these puppies can end up in rescue and shelter facilities. At Brightburn, we are very careful to place our puppies only with knowledgeable, responsible buyers who have the time, ability, facilities and commitment to provide the care, attention and training that an Airedale puppy requires in order to live a long, happy and healthy life. In order to reach their full potential as loving, obedient family pets, Airedale Terriers require early and consistent obedience training. They are highly energetic, and need plenty of daily exercise. Under the right circumstances, an Airedale Terrier can be the "perfect" family dog, full of fun and affection. This, however, is something that must be achieved through proper training and consistent reinforcement.
