Several people have e-mailed me asking me about myself and where I work. So here goes.

My name is Allan D. Lariviere. I am working in Fox Creek, Alberta, Canada at the Fox Creek Elementary/Junior High School. I am currently teaching Math and Science at the Junior level and Chemistry 20/30 at the Senior level.

I have been a teacher since 1970. I taught school in Saskatchewan for three years after I graduated from the University of Regina. I then landed a job in Queensland, Australia in 1973. I taught there for 8 years before returning to Canada. (Don't ask me why I came back, I just did. I do have my regrets however.)

Our school is a K-12 school, the only one in the division. We have a population of students that consistently hovers around the 550 mark.

Fox Creek School is in the early stages of being "wired" for the information age. We have just had a satellite downlink installed on the roof of our gymnasium, thanks to Telus, Sat-Tel, and the Alberta Government. When we will be fully up and running is another matter. Hopefully soon.

UPDATE!

As of today (Jan 30, 1998) we are up and running. The school has been completely wired and computerized. We've installed a huge HP server, connected all classrooms, two labs, nine printers (including a plotter) and two HP 6100 series scanners. Every classroom has at least one computer connected to the network with room for two more. Every student and teacher has his/her own e-mail address and access to the web from anywhere in the school thanks to IBM's NetVista technology. Now the fun begins.

Anyway, there you have it, a condensed version of me. If you want to get a hold of me, just e-mail me. Mail Box.

Hope you like what I am trying to do with respect to this web site.
