Lester Persky: A native New Yorker attended Eastern District High School and Brooklyn College. At the college his fellow classmate included Mel Brooks. Upon graduation Persky was voted "most likely to succeed". He first went into public relations and advertising. At the age of 24 Persky was president of his own agency but finally his first love won out, that being theatrical and motion picture production. He has produced or co-produced films such as :

The Last Detail, Taxi Driver, Shampoo, The Man Who Would Be King, Hard Times, California Split, the Missouri Breaks, Funny Lady, The Front, The Wind and the Lion, and Yanks.

 

Michael Butler: Born in Chicago and educated at the University of Colorado. Michael served as executive vice president of various corporations. He would also go on to serve as special adviser to the late Senator John F. Kennedy on Indian and Middle East Affairs. Michael has produced "Hair" on stage all over the world and co[produced the films:

Lenny You Are What You Eat, Pope Joan and The Dragon and the Pearl. Please feel free to visit Michael's website.

 

The Screenplay

Michael Weller: A graduate of Manchester University in England (perhaps that's why the song "Manchester, England?"). His plays include More Than You Deserve, There's Just the Three of Us, 23 Years Later, How Ho ho Rose and Fell in Seven Short Scenes, Fishing and many others. Michael continues to write plays .

 

Choreography

Twyla Tharp: Born in Portland, Indiana1941, Twyla premiered her first work "Tank Drive" in 1965. She studied ballet with Igor Schwetzoff, jazz with Eugene Lewis and modern techniques with Martha Graham, among others. Her works include:

Deuce Coupe, As Time Goes By, Happily Ever After (for the Joffrey Ballet) and Push Comes to Shove for Mikhail Baryshnikov.

Twyla has created over 90 dances. Along with the film Hair, she has also choreographed such films as Ragtime, Amadeus and White Nights. Awards include an Emmy in 1985 the same year she choreographed "Singin In the Rain" on Broadway. She has also received numerous honorary doctorates.
