THE FILM

- -TRIVIA- -

When open auditions were held for all singing parts the very first name on the first casting sheet read "Madonna Ciccone". Somehow Milos overlooked her.

When the Pentagon would not give assistance in filming the scenes at the military base it was decided to build the set in a meadow in New Jersey. It wasn't till Milos confirmed that the U.S. Army ia actually a public entity and not privately owned that permission was given.

The summertime"be-in" to be shot in Central Park was actually scheduled for December. Supposedly it would be warm enough in December but when the day came it was snowing. The plan was to use airplane engines to melt the snow. The problem remained how to cover the obvious steam coming out of the actors mouths when they said their lines. The production manager thought if the actors sucked ice-cubes just before they said their lines it would solve the problem. They did at last agree to delay the scene but the weather never cooperated for the rest of the month. The crew took off six weeks around Christmas and the "be-in" was shot in May.
