Annie Golden -

Born October 19, 1951.Before HAIR Brooklyn-born Annie Golden was known as the lead singer with the new wave/punk rock band, The Shirts. She performed regularly at the Bowery rock and roll club CBGBs which is where Milos forman first heard her sing. The "Shirts" signed a recording contract with Capitol Records. Prior to filming HAIR, Annie was appearing in the Broadway revival of HAIR. Annie later made a guest appearance on the the hit television series "Cheers"in the character Margaret O'Keefe. In 1985 she appeared on Broadway in "Leader of the Pack" with Dinah Manoff (Empty Nest). In that same year she appeared on Miami Vice in the 2 hour movie "Prodigal Son" directed by Paul Michael Glaser. Annie also supplied vocals to the album "Lonesome Val" (1990) and her voice to "Pebble and the Penguin (animated film with other voices supplied by Martin Short, Tim Curry and James Belushi. Songs by Barry Manilow 1995). Annie played the role of Marina (my middle name). More recently she appeared in the Bruce Willis film "Twelve Monkeys" as the woman cabbie. During much of the 90's Annie was part of a duo with Frank Carillo called "Golden Carillo". They released 3 albums including "A Fire in Town", "Toxic Emotion" and "Back For More".

A couple of years ago Annie reunited with her group "The Shirts" at CBGB's NYC for a breast cancer benefit and played a new song. Follwing that Annie was seen in "On the Town" on Broadway and then appeared in "La Terrace" (Off Broadway). Annie currently can be found at the Eugene O'Neill Theatre in the Broadway production of The Full Monty. She plays the role of Georgie Bukatinsky. This show is a must see and I thoroughly enjoyed the show while I was visiting New York City in September. Although many shows suffered after the attack the Full Monty was packed. Way to go Annie!

Don Dacus - Don grew up in Cleburne, Texas, HAIR was Don's acting debut. In Junior high school he was in a band called "The Shux" and also he gave guitar lessons. The band played at Teen-A-Go-Go in Fort Worth with go go girls. The admission back then was just 25 cents. He performed throughout the 70's as a lead rock and roll guitarist and back-up musician. Don is also a compuser and has written musical material and songs for stars such as Stephen Stills and Kiki Dee. He has also travelled with performer Boz Skaggs. During the filming of HAIR, Dacus was asked to join the rock band Chicago which he did on the completion of the film. Dacus is 45 years old. Check out the "Chicago" picture, front and centre.

Dorsey Wright - Dorsey who is now 40 as born and raised in the South Bronx. He attended De Witt clinton High School, Leyman College and Pratt Institute. He joined a theatre troupe called "Theatre for the Forgotten" and went on to star with them in Dream '76 and Forever My Earth both of which were presented to the inmates on Riker's Island. Cheryl Barnes - Raised in New Jersey, Cheryl has sang with groups such as the Classics Five and Ten Wheel Drive. She was also a back up singer for Genya Raven. Cheryl performed in Leonard Bernstein's "Mass" and on Broadway in last Sweet Days of Isaac, Godspell and Jesus Christ Superstar. She portrayed Deena, the handmaiden in Doug Henning's "The Magic Show". HAIR is her motion picture debut.

Cheryl gave the most impressive audition when she showed up at an open casting call. She had no agent and was working as a maid in a motel in Maine. Her song "Easy to Be Hard" took only one take and this is the take you see in it's intirety in the film. Her later scene in the desert outisde the army base was filmed in Barstow, California. Cheryl stayed in Barstow. The director Milos Forman talked her into coming to New York for a few months as he didn't want to see such talent go to waste. Unfortunately Cheryl returned to Barstow where she worked as a piano teacher. She remained friends with Milos and accompanied him to Prague where he was shooting the film "Amadeus".

Nicholas Ray - Born Raymond Nicholas Kienzle on August 7, 1911 in Galesville, Wisconsin and died June 16, 1979 . Played the general in one of the final scenes. He was to give a stern speech to the troops and in the scene there was smoke billowing around the actor. Unfortunatley Milos didn't realise that Nicholas was dying of Cancer of the lungs at the time.
