Step-by-step Guide to Using NumFun

"Whether you are 6 or 66 years old, you will no doubt find NumFun to be fun and addictive -  you just "can't stop", all the while polishing your math and keyboard skills"

- a satisfied NumFun™ user

-Features in greater detail-

Overview
You can choose any one of the basic operations - Addition, Subtraction, Multiplication or Division. The program picks random numbers for the math drills from a range of user-provided numbers - you can set the range to be anywhere between 1 and 999. Each operation has its own unique range. You define the range by providing two numbers: the Lowest number and the Highest number. The program will then randomly pick numbers that are between these two numbers. Click the Setup button to set your number ranges.

The math operations are presented in large, colorful numbers that are easy to register in your mind because your mind can remember colorful images better than plain text.

The primary object of NumFun is to correctly answer as many math operations in as little time as possible. Over time, this will greatly improve your mental ability to resolve larger math problems with ease.

Your score is continuously displayed in percent format, based on the ratio of your correct and incorrect answers. The Solve button allows you to quickly skip a problem that you can't solve. There is a Scoreboard that displays the results of your progress - the number of problems solved, the number of correct and incorrect answers you have entered, and the number of times you may have clicked the Solve button.

Skill Level
There is also a Skill Level indicator, which displays a ratio of the number of correct answers entered versus the amount of time elapsed. The higher the indicator value is, the better your skills are. Incorrect answers and/or too much time spent on solving problems will weaken the Skill Level.
Caution - this indicator has proven to be quite a challenge! :) Try and keep it constantly above 50% !!

Input
In order to maximize your time, it best to use the numeric keypad on your keyboard to enter your responses. Use the Enter key to apply your answer and move to the next problem. If your answer is incorrect, NumFun™ informs you of this, and you can re-enter the correct answer. You can keep re-entering answers until the correct one is entered, or you can click the Solve button to allow the
program to solve the current problem and move to the next one. The shortcut key for the Solve button is F2.

Report
When you end your session, or at any time, you can view a report on your progress by clicking the Report button. The Report window will open, listing all the math operations that you have completed, including the incorrect and assisted ones. Your score, skill level, number of correct and incorrect answers is also listed at the top of the Report. There is a Print button to print this report, of you can use various clipboard commands by right-clicking in the Report window.

Print Practice sheets to Printer
Another feature that is quite useful especially for schools, or for parents, is the
Print Sheets feature. This allows you to print nicely formatted pages filled with 35 math problems on each sheet, arranged evenly in a grid of 7 rows and 5 columns. For schools, these sheets with math drills can be handed out to students for practice. NumFun™ also allows you to optionally print the Answer Sheets for printed drills, which makes it easy to check the students' answers. The range of numbers used in the practice drills is the same as that used in the main program. These ranges can be reviewed or changed by clicking the Setup button on the main screen. Please note that to you will need to enter a password to access the Print Sheets screen. The reason for the password is to limit printing abilities to authorized persons only - for example, you may not want your students printing the Practice sheets and/or the Answer sheets without your consent. Please send an email to request the password, and it will be promptly emailed to you by replying to your email.
