Camille Te Nahu & Stuie French

Camille Te Nahu was born in New Zealand and spent her childhood in the idyllic seaside town of Gisborne.  At the age of eight, Camille started singing and performed in local talent quests and by the time she was eighteen years old was making appearances at the renowned Norfolk Island country music festival.  In 1999, Camille made the transition across the Pacific Ocean to settle in Sydney and upon arrival, snagged the opening spot on Kasey Chambers’ ‘The Captain Tour’ as well as singing backing vocals in Kasey’s shows in Australia and the US.  In 2002 New Zealand vocalist, Camille Te Nahu & co-founder of the Golden Guitar winning band The Feral Swing Katz, Stuart French, teamed up to work on Camille’s self titled, solo record and saw the start of a special new collaboration that has culminated in the release of the duo’s first album together.

By 2001, Camille was touring with other Australian country music heavyweights including Gina Jeffreys and Rick Price while still being one of the most in-demand session singers in the country.  Camille performed on Kasey Chambers’ ARIA chart-topping hit, ‘Not Pretty Enough’ and has sung backing vocals for multi-award winning artists including Troy Cassar-Daley, Beccy Cole and Sara Storer.

Stuart French has been a long time member of the country music scene since he first picked up a guitar in his home town of Wynard, Tasmania at the age of 9.  Stuie site his Dad and brother as his first major musical influences.  Stuart became a full time musician and moved up to Sydney to form the infamous Feral Swing Katz with Michel Rose, becoming a regular at Tamworth Country Music Festival and The Gympie Muster.  Stuart has played for just about everybody!  He toured with Troy Cassar-Daley for 8 years and spent 5 years in Gina Jeffrey’s band while dabbling in his other love of producing.

In 2000, Stuart started his own studio, “Swingin’ Doors”, co-producing Felicity’s New Shadow album and Camille Te Nahu’s self-titled album as well as other independent artists in between touring commitments.  The highlight of Stuart’s career was when he got to jam with his all-time hero Merle Haggard in 1995 and 1996 both in the US and Australia when Merle was touring.

August 2005 saw Stuart and Camille win the Independent Artists Album Of The Year Award for their album “Not Without You” at the 2005 Tasmania & New Zealand Songwriting Awards.  Audiences have loved the live performances of the songs from Not Without You which features a collection of original tracks written by Camille and Stuart as well as some well-loved classics.
