Why do some say the crucifixion was on a Wednesday not Friday If we as Christians believe the Bible is the infallible word of God and is true in every aspect, in Matthew 12:40 it says: Matthew 12:40 For
as Jonas was three days and three nights in the whale’s belly; so shall the
Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth. Now in simple mathematics, if Christ was crucified on Friday and arose after
6 pm on Saturday that is only one night and one day. So according to the scriptures, Jesus arose sometime
after 6 pm Saturday evening. (John 20:19) So backing up, all day Saturday is one
day, all day Friday is two days and all day Thursday is three days. Now I don’t remember which one it was, but it was either Morris Cerello or Hymen Appleman, both Christian Jewish Evangelists. Said that Thursday was a high Sabbath the day of preparation, the next day that followed (Mat 27:62) was Friday and the regular Sabbath on Saturday. Thus again a Wednesday crucifixion makes three days and three nights in the grave. Matthew 27:62-65 Now the next day, that followed the day of the preparation, the chief priests and Pharisees came together unto Pilate, Saying, Sir, we remember that that deceiver said, while he was yet alive, After three days I will rise again. Command therefore that the sepulchre be made sure until the third day, lest his disciples come by night, and steal him away, and say unto the people, He is risen from the dead: so the last error shall be worse than the first. Pilate said unto them, Ye have a watch: go your way, make it as sure as ye can. The main thing is that we celebrate and remember the price our Lord Trust this sheds some light on the subject Eze 11:19 And I will give them one heart, and I will put a new spirit within you; and I will take the stony heart out of their flesh, and will give them an heart of flesh: Eze 36:26 A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh. Eze 36:27 And I will put my spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes, and ye shall keep my judgments, and do them. Mt 5:20 For I say unto you, That except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven. Mt 11:12 And from the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven suffereth violence, and the violent take it by force. Mt 23:13 But woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye shut up the kingdom of heaven against men: for ye neither go in yourselves, neither suffer ye them that are entering to go in #3 Second coming Joh 14:28 Ye have heard how I said unto you, I go away, and come again unto you. If ye loved me, ye would rejoice, because I said, I go unto the Father: for my Father is greater than I. Re 1:7 Behold, he cometh with clouds; and every eye shall see him, and they also which pierced him: and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of him. Even so, Amen. Ac 1:11 Which also said, Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? this same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven. Zec 14:4 And his feet shall stand in that day upon the mount of Olives, which is before Jerusalem on the east, and the mount of Olives shall cleave in the midst thereof toward the east and toward the west, and there shall be a very great valley; and half of the mountain shall remove toward the north, and half of it toward the south. Rev 19:11 to 16 And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white
horse; and he that sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and in
righteousness he doth judge and make war. His eyes were as a flame of fire, and
on his head were many crowns; and he had a name written, that no man knew, but
he himself. And he was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and his name is
called The Word of God. Re 20:4 And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them: and I saw the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God, and which had not worshipped the beast, neither his image, neither had received his mark upon their foreheads, or in their hands; and they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years. Re 19:15 And out of his mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it he should smite the nations: and he shall rule them with a rod of iron: and he treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God. Jesus is the living word and the bible is the written word, we must believe
both. The natural mind cannot grasp the total understanding of the scriptures, we need the Holy Spirit to teach us, not man. 1Cor 2:12 to 14 Bro Ken |
