Electronic Busker, the hat that I pass is my mailbox

What you hear may bear some
resemblance to products from the "industry"
But don't be deceived it's not for sale
And I don't mind if you tape yourself
a copy you can have it for free
'cause hey, this is just some music
in songs, for you... from me
Always thought it would be nice to
try and love everybody, even though
you can't do much for them all... just a few
But let's not get too sentimental
this business is finished thank-you
Good bye and good night, Electronic Busker,
If I don't see you later, I'll see you soon. ......................................(back to titles)
I dig the country and the trees and the fields
I dig the country man and the ways that he feels
City's mad, got to get out to the country
But I know some kind of man is going to charge me a fee
To get out to the country.
Sometimes I feel so amused
By a thought that a word brings,
A word that's well used
Like "city", think "got to get out to the country"
But I know some kind of man is going to charge me a fee
To get out to the country.
Country political, country escape
Country geographical, a rural landscape
City's mad, got to get out to the country
But I know some kind of man is going to charge me a fee
To get out to the country. ...............................................................(back to titles)
I can see one world. I can see one world
If Caesar,s only desire could have been
"Mag, wheels on his "pick-up
Cleopatra might have said,
"I need a time saving, kitchen appliance
To save time for what ?
"To watch those highly emotional, inter-personal,
mellow dramatical, soap opereticals
Pictured on her video machine,
In her living room, all afternoon.
And so she does, and then she screams,
(Chorus)
I can see one world. I can see mine.
It,s all that I can see,
Cause I,m here all the time.
Meanwhile the robin perched on the microwave tower
Sees not what our Caesar sees in the dust in his headlights.
For it is hours since the north spring sun has set.
The snow is gone and summer,s coming.
Coming from the clearest spring he,s known,
So he sits back
Behind the wheel of his Cadillac
And then he screams,
(Chorus)
We are one world. We are all the time.
But can I see your world
And can you see mine ?
How many hundreds of peoples have wondered
Does it have to be hungry and crying
With young soldiers dying ?
It makes me want to scream !
Chorus............................................................................(back to titles)
(Chorus)
Make alot a money, buy alot a hair oil
comb yer jelly roll
Make alot a money, buy alot a hair oil
comb yer jelly roll
Why don't you fly to the moon?
You're young enough, you can train to be an astronaut
Or why don't you be a mechanic
There's still five years of cars left on the road
But you talk gravely of some kingdom of god
In no direction do you plod
Towards positive changes, within ranges in scope of your view
So... (Chorus)
Remember when you were in school?
Teacher was thick... curriculum sick
But the scene was cool
You know you were roudy,
drinkin' and acting like a fool
But now you're level and right on the beam
At least to some folks so it may seem
Though inside you're doubting
Some Sunday school outing
Has decided your values for you
So... (Chorus) ...........................................................(back to titles)
He bends he's the hot plastic man
Who sweats as he drips from the can
It's unknown that he was sick because he flushed it
His face is yellow but his tooth is white because he brushed it
I pity him as he flows down the hall
Halfway stuck to the wall
Who could tell this morning as he slept
That he was hot, let alone plastic
He was awakened by the pressure building in his clock
Hating whoever it was who kept speeding up
these dreary weeks
But his hate was interrupted by the explosion of the alarm
The works were stopped by a blow from his arm
Hot plastic man
Get back to your can
The smog has yellowed your tan
Only if you were straight
Could you mellow the hate
But now you are late
Because you waited for fate
To arrange the affairs of your state. ...............................(back to titles)
Why don't you go to your room?
There you can wish away all of the doom
Why don't you go to your room? Not to be
punished, ooh ooh, ooh, ooh ooh.
And baby am I really mad
To wish away all that is bad?
Then you speak to me of then.
Now is now 'till the end.
So why don't you go to your room?
There you can wish away all of the doom
My life is stupid since she left
It was also stupid before
Yeah it's so stupid since left
It was all so stupid before
Sometimes I wonder
Which stupid life I like more
And I really thought I had control
Untill the day there was a war.
And now my atoms fly through space
The chance is lost for me to save the race.
So why don't you go to your room?
There you can wish away all of the doom
There you can wish away, all ..... of the doom. ..................(back to titles)
Iron used to know Blacksmith Joe
He was the one who made the horse shoe glow
Heat it up, pound it round,
Make a gallop give a more metalic sound.
But is it right To hear tires screeching pavement in the night?
And who's to know
If you're sleeping or someone's burning out in low?
Time won't let some stop, won't let some go.
Old time's pushing, new time's on the go.
His hope was strung out on the line
Old Joe said that it was a crime.
The auto car took his job away
Took his life down the road
To gasoline motorway.
But is it right
To hear tires screeching pavement in the night?
And who's to know
If you're screaming or someone's burning out in low?
Time won't let some stop, won't let some go.
Old time's pushing, new time's on the go.
His hope was hung out on the line
To dry up its tears in the sun one more time
It is the spark in the smile in his eyes
Lifts his heart, unclouds his skies.
But who's to say where it's gone when it's gone away
I don't know but those hope gone times drag Joe low
Time used to know Blacksmith Joe
He was the one who made the horse shoe glow
Heat it up, pound it round,
Make a gallop give a more metalic sound.
Make a gallop give a more metalic sound.
Make a gallop give a more metalic sound.
Yeah ... make a gallop give ...
... .... A more metalic sound. .............................................(back to titles)
Changes fly by some young girl cries that losers never win
She says "see why before you die a new life must begin"
She's made her plans and she's got Dan's heart on a string
Danny's going to buy her a diamond ring
If she's smart she will start to aquire everything
That'll fix her angel's broken wing
'Cause she's always lived with her folks
Though they confiscated her smokes
took a lot, all that they gave
Oh how they taught her to behave
Changes fly by some young girl cries that losers never win
She says "see why before you die a new life must begin" .......................(back to titles)
Values screaming in my mind
Worth what worth? While spending time
Judging you and judging me
And judging bad and thinking mean
(Chorus)
Were on a blind date can't you see
Could be a fine date without you and me
Here we are uptight uptown
Seen a bad bad movie now were down
Walking silent, bored and blue
Thinking maybe we are through
(Chorus)
God I hate this awful feeling
Heart so low and stomach reeling
Somehow we can't be in love right now
Were on a blind date can't you see
Could be a fine date without you and me
without you and me without you and me without you, you and me .........(back to titles)
The world says yes. The body feels fine.
The senses look inward. I have a settled mind.
The feelings are easy. The smallness expands.
At rest but alert, completely unbound.
I know I am, my thoughts arise
And I look out at the world
I plan, I do, I build, and I have my fun
I plan, I do, I build, and I get it done
And then I sit dwon and close my eyes
Ah Ah, Ah Ah. ...............................................................(back to titles)
Strange loops back and forth around,
In my nuclear computer, in the jungles they are found.
Love and hate, laugh to cry,
Go and wait, hello good-bye...to
Strange loops back and forth around,
Cosmic flight together, alone down on the ground
Will and fate, hot to cold,
Cold to hot, young and old...
Strange loops, principle and rate,
In the jungles they are found, go and wait.
Production waste, economy,
One cosmic atom, imprisoned to be free...from those
Strange loops in the changing of the moon,
In my nuclear computer, in the never now of soon
In those strange, strange loops
Strange loops back and forth around,
In her eyes they are found
Always now in this time
Content and fire, a point to line...to
Strange loops back and forth around,
Like the petals of a daisy, tossed upon the ground
Yes or no, do or die,
Odd or even, I don,t know why...
Strange loops go back and forth around,
Television light beams, music in the sound.
Run to end, "A to"Zee,
Atomic cosmos, imprisoned to be free...from those
Strange loops in the changing of the moon,
In my nuclear computer, in the never now of soon
In those strange, strange loops
In those strange, strange loops ........................................................(back to titles)
Spirit of a Stone © Brian Gregg
One day the spirit of a stone
appeared in the image of a man
And that was what I thought that stone to be.
I expected it to love and care like other men I know
But it didn't and my will to make it never came to be.
And I wonder now how I didn't know All that is, is never what we see.
I sing this song for people yet to be
Further on in time, five thousand and eighty-three.
Frozen heated, smashed and cracked weathered washed and worn,
The Rubble fused together and the stone was born
Now back when I lived in the twenth century
We took for granted that that, that was, was all we see
The image for our language, a conglomeration
of technical and academic jargon
against a background of media advertisement slang
But not in silence these bits of many stones fused
Unlike the thoughtless mindless life of geology's rock
In silence these bits of many stones fused.
The Babel of our many sounds left apparently forever
To chatter on from electronic storage.
I wonder what essence will emerge ?
If only you could tell me, people yet to be.
All I can do is sing this song for thee. ........................................................(back to titles)
Who said the price of freedom was a broken start ?
Is this the end of the beginning or the beginning of the end ?
I think I know what's the matter with me
Its a matter of the heart
I'd like to take off your underwear
In an appropriate place somewhere
At an appropriate time too
Long long long after we
kiss and kiss
and kiss and kiss
A self declared untouchable now
You stand locked in your VIP cage
Not really any closer than if you were back
Back on the other side of the planet
I'd like to take off your underwear
Pull it right down past your travelin' toes
So close face to face, nose to nose
that when I look into your eyes I see
One .............(one eye)
But I guess I've blown most any chance of that now
Because I just don't want to drop the end of that line
Still just the same for you I'll drop it this time
You'll find me if you change your mind
I'd like to take off, please forget I mentioned it
I'll just take off and play my guitar
Still I long long long for you to kiss ................................... (back to titles)
We are the masses the majority
We hold the power even though we can't really see
On the surface we like to seem glad
But underneath we are angry and sad
What we know most is what we can buy
We demand market forces supply
They may serve us In a way that's indirect
Trade toil for trinkets What else can we expect
Dumb and cruel running wild and free
Dumb and cruel I Know that is the way we're meant
meant to be
Go downtown have a drink in a pub
Look for a partner to give us a rub
Too bad we can't get all that we want
Always wanting to have what we caun't
Relaxing on the deck beside the pool
or doing something else that'l make us cool
Deep in our hobbies if we're not at our work
We wonder why somebody else is a jerk
Dumb and cruel running wild and free
Dumb and cruel I Know that is the way we're meant
meant to be
Now don't be too nervous to introspect
it's not uncommon to find a defect
Dr. Suzuki is sounding his alarm
Claims what we're doing is doing us harm
It is no mystery that we're bound to get mad
and feel like doing something that's bad
In our frustration we're not very nice
We'd wreck a planet and we wouldn't think twice.
Dumb and cruel running wild and free
Dumb and cruel I Know that is the way
I Know that is the way
I Know that is the way we're meant meant to be .................. (back to titles)
It's a drag lovin' you, the way I do
It's a drag lovin' you, the way I do
Late at night and I'm running low
Pretty soon I'll have to go
Down to your corner and find your machine
And empty my pocket like it's always been .. 'cause
It's a drag lovin' you, the way I do
It's a drag lovin' you, the way I do
Those advertisers say you love me too
They say you love me too
It's a drag lovin' you, the way I do
You know sometimes you make me feel so good
I forget to wonder if I should
Sometimes when I use you I feel so bad
Your pleasing nasty habit's driving me so mad ..'cause
It's a drag lovin' you, the way I do
It's a drag lovin' you, the way I do
Those advertisers say you love me too
They say you love me too
It's a drag lovin' you, the way I do
It's always time to quit
Every time I try to I take a fit
Get so nervous, don't know what to do
I light up another pack of you
It's a drag lovin' you, the way I do
It's a drag lovin' you, the way I do ...................... ...... ........ ...(back to titles)

My Mother was a Commie © Brian Gregg
My Father was a capitalist. / My Mother was a Commie.
They thought and cried their ideology / Would save us like salvation
Holy market holy worker / Black or white for him and for her
No way could they / no way would they join
I'm sure some good must fall between / such opposite positions
There must be more than just one way / Perhaps some combination
Holy Freedom Holy Fairness / Some will fight and some will care less
No way, said they / no way would they join
Straight answers, to questions may I have / not simply just suggestions
from those who claim to represent, / and make the laws that rule me
Holy love n Holy hatred / Divorce divest acquire and be wed
No way, said they / no way would they join
But that could not explain / the truth of my existence
And now in turn I take a part / In seeing if it makes sense
And we became the reason why they / lived so long together slyly
Even, though they said that no way / no way could they join
My Father was a capitalist. / My Mother was a Commie. ........... .........(back to titles)
Leavin' the Livin' room © Brian Gregg
In a place where the winter noon is nite
And every thing is some shade of white
Old old man, on a cold cold day
Walks off into a blizzard; suicide the Eskimo way
And as his disappearance is going along
It's said he was heard to be singing this song
Well I believe I'm leavin' the livin' room
Yes I believe I'm leavin' the livin' room
I believe I am leavin' the livin' room
Well since my baby said she ain't comin' back here anymore
I've been losing sleep. I've been cryin' on the floor
But now I'm leaving, leavin' the livin' room
goin' out to the kitchen; dance with the broom
Well if I did the suicide blues it would be the Eskimo way
I'd walk off into a blizzard when I'm old and grey
But it's too hot out now and I'm too young and I still want to see the day
When she comes back here; comes back here to stay
I'm goin' to get up off this couch. If I don't fall on the floor
I'm goin' to get up on my feet and walk right out that door
Yes I'm leavin' ... leavin' the living room
goin'' out to the kitchen. dance with the broom
Yes I believe I'm leavin' the livin' room
Yes I believe I'm leavin' the livin' room
goin'' out to the kitchen. dance with the broom
dance dance dance, dance with the broom
Come on now honey
you must be getting tired of sitting there in the closet with the dustpan
Get out here on the floor with me right now
We're going to clean up ..... ........... ............ ............ ..............(back to titles)
Well Heel you've done it again
Stepped on a buddy's toe and hurt a friend
You're so sorry now
You'd say so but you just don't know how
Every time you start to you end up foot in mouth
So worried it will it comes out wrong
Well Heel I should've guessed
You're worn out need a rest
Those long roads you've walked alone for years
Left you nowhere close except to tears
Every time you step down hard, turn and walk away
Heel you've done it again
Well Heel she can't blame you
She's not the one who nailed you to this shoe
You've been turned around and stepped on now
You'd say you're sorry but you just don't know how
Every time you start to you end up foot in mouth
So worried it will it comes out wrong
So Every time you step down hard, turn and walk away
Heel you've done it again
Yeah Heel you've done it again ... ....... ........... ............. .............(back to titles)
Emma Goldman, she's the one for me tonight
For me her company will be a great delight
She made a date with me
It's such a rare occurrence for her to be free
I didn't expect her to agree, to see me
She will speak and do what she believes is right
And read her precious books in Edgar's jails all night
She spoke to protest war
Just free speech and nothing more.
I don't know what they did it for.... what they did it for
She was exiled only to this time despise
The Russian revolution failing in her eyes.
Nowhere were the people free
Not in the church nor in the factory.
I didn't expect her to love me .... love me.
Aristotle, Jesus, Galileo .....
Were all too criminals to blind authority.
So far in history
It's been a crime to think so free
But your love Emma made me see what can be.
Emma Goldman, she's the one for me tonight
Emma Goldman, she's the one for me tonight .......
note:
Emma Goldman was a Russian Jew who at a young age emigrated to New York City in the early part of the century. She became involved as a labor leader and was jailed numerous times by J. Edgar Hoover and finally exiled back to Russia for her activities. She spent the last part of her life in Canada. This song is written from her lover's point of view.

On the governments grounds flippin pancakes and scramblin yolks
Was the king of it all the most grand of blokes
Smilin and laughin and crackin out jokes
Once a year they have free breakfast for the hungry folks
All of a sudden there was pie on his face
He was the leader he had won the race
This was a dishonor this was a disgrace
They sprayed the pie thrower with a can of mace
They took 'im off to jail and court
The sentence was long but the trial was short
He'd only thrown a cream pie tort
You think the king coulda been a better sport
Pilate washed his hands our king washed his face
The protester was wrong but he made his case
A little kindness once a year is not exactly ace
When they force feed development at a blinding pace
This year I won't throw it just walk around
Walk with my pie on the government ground
Goin to walk around with my cream pie
Goin to show everyone I don't like that guy
We don't need to throw it to make our point
Just for carrying pie they can't throw you in the joint
If they won't let us in it'll be a human rights breech
Not throwing pie is a freedom of speech
Won't throw it in his face just walk around
Walk with my pie on the government ground
Goin to walk around with my cream pie
Goin to show everyone I don't like that guy
Goin to show everyone I don't like that guy
