ABOUT ELECTRONIC BUSKER

Edmonton guitarist, singer and song writer Brian Gregg, released his debut CD "Electronic Busker" for sale June 1998.

This CD was initially available in a "not for sale" and "not for commercial broadcast" format. Long before he recorded the music for this project, Brian had the idea that he could be more independent than the independents. He thought he could make a CD ; give it away; and ask for donations just as a Busker on the street gives away his or her music in exchange for donations.

In talking with others about the potential of this approach to getting your music to an audience and making some money, it became clear it had to be tried to find out. Nobody else was going to do it, so he did and found out quite a lot. Almost a thousand copies were given away and nearly half of those who received a copy responded with a donation; some small and some more than generous and some strange including an onion and some home made venison jerky. Although some people immediately embraced the concept of electronic busking, quite a few were confused by and uncomfortable with it.

Most importantly he found that this recording has a wide-ranging appeal. People of all ages and with various musical tastes get a kick out of it.

Interesting well executed music tracks, supporting songs with an essay-like poetry in the lyrics. Lyrics with a good balance of sarcasm, truth and humor.

Consequently with the thousand "not for sale" copies almost gone and itching to record a CD of new material that he is very excited about, Brian decided to release "Electronic Busker" commercially. Brian says "I'm proud of this music on "Electronic Busker" so I'm going to sell it, and try and get some commercial air play."
