  • MOLSON/LABATT BOYCOTT LIFTED

Locked out workers at BDL in Edmonton have settled their remaining issues with their employer. The AFL has now lifted the boycott on Molson and Labatt products. We remind members that both breweries employ unionized workers in their production facilities.

Striking newsroom staff voted to end their strike against the Calgary Herald. Earlier, the GCIU local ratified a first collective agreement and returned to work. As a result, the AFL has lifted the secondary boycott of the Edmonton Journal.

On June 30th, the Calgary Herald offered CEP Local 115A members a boy-out package, conditional on decertification of the union or, a return to the bargaining table. Members, many of whom could not tolerate the thought of working again for a Calgary Herald managed by the current bullies, chose the package. Those who wished to return to the Herald did so, without a collective agreement.

For the time being, a boycott on the Calgary Herald and the National Post remains.
