Walter Manning given a strong mandate to continue as President of Local 707.
Walter Manning elected with over 75% of the votes.
Thank you all for your show of support and strong mandate. I first want to take this opportunity to welcome Roland LeFort back to the Executive Board. Now that the elections are over, we need to get back to the work ahead of us.
There are several items on the agenda that need to be dealt with. We have the issue of the Tailings group to complete and we will be working with that group to try and come up with a common understanding. Whatever the outcome it will have to come before the mine group before it can be implemented. Watch the bulletin boards for more on this issue.
We have had some discussion with the Electronics Group with respect to shifts and in particular article 15.01.We will attempt to bring closure to this issue.
We have a number of important grievances to deal with and we will assist Brother Roy Young Grievance Committee Chair with this task.
We are currently preparing for the Annual General Membership Meeting scheduled for October 18 and 19. A this meeting we do not conduct any of the Normal Union Business but instead we will give you and overview of the last 12 months and maybe take a peak into the next 12. The AGM is also the meeting where we address any changes to the constitution should any be brought forward.
Immediately following the AGM , I , along with the 2001 Bargaining committee will begin the process for collecting your demands and prepare our bargaining package. As we have reported the National Bargaining Proposal was accepted at our June meeting and your bargaining committee is prepared to go and achieve that on your behalf.
These are only a few of the issues that we will be dealing with. Our Pipeline will be sent to your homes shortly you will be able to reaad information more specific to your area. Our doors are always open please feel free to visit your union office and join us for coffee.
In solidarity
Walter Manning for the Executive Board
