Chinneck paintings owned by the Luxton Museum of the Plains Indian

The Luxton Museum in Banff was once owned by the Glenbow Museum in Calgary.  They were going to close it due to a negative financial position.  It was purchased by the native people and they have turned the situation around.  It is fitting that they should own and run the museum as it is a record of the history of the First Nations people in this area.

I grew up in Exshaw and was fortunate to go to the Calgary Stampede and to see the First Nations People there.  Then I would see them heading to Banff for the festival there.

I left the area in 1938 and when I returned to the area years later I attended a "Name giving ceremony" at the Rafter Six Ranch near Canmore.

I was thrilled with the colour and sounds.

What follows is the series of paintings that I did which the museum purchased for their permanent

Collection.

I am honoured to be part of the collection.
