Soldiers to Poppies
by
Kassidi Lemay

Guns fire, on the ground they lay
In their dark sleep
They fought for our freedom
And they fought for our peace.

In time gone past
Air filled with dust
and powder steaming out of guns
Blood flowed where the poppies now grow.

Crosses mark the bodies
Where the soldiers lay
Being covered by poppies
Being rained on by tears
But memories can never
Be washed away.
