The Collaborative Project

To do list for Students:

(A) Create, on your own, one spectacular opening sentence and one closing sentence for any kind of writing of your choice and ask your teacher to help you save these on a floppy disc or on the hard drive of the computer.
  • Make sure you indicate whether they are opening or closing sentences in the title.

    (B) Make one web page to display all the opening sentences created by the whole class.

    (C) Make one web page to display all the closing sentences created by the whole class.

  • Your teacher will show you how to make a web page using the Telus Web Page Tool.

    (D) Send the Web Page to catherinesuen@yahoo.com

    (E) Create, on your own, a writing prompt for any kind of writing of your choice and ask your teacher to help you save it on a floppy disc or on the hard drive of the computer.

    (F) Make a web page to display all the writing prompts created by the whole class.

  • Your teacher will show you how to make a web page using the Telus Web Page Tool.

    (1) Post three samples of writing on the message board. (Each piece of writing should be a minium of six full sentences and a maximum of about 500 words.)

    (2) Evaluate your own writing using the " Writing Assessment Rubric " as your guide.

  • Show your evaluation to your teacher.)

    (3) Respond to two samples of writing on the message board by changing them in any way you wish.

    (4)Post each writing you changed on the message board together with the oringinal writing.

    (5) Evaluate one piece of writing you respond to, using the Writing Assessment Rubric as your guide.

  • Show your evaluation to your teacher.


  • (6) When you get the changed or edited story/writing,
  • Save the original and changed stories/writing on a floppy or in your hard drive.

    (7) Make one web page displaying the original story and the changed stories of the whole class.

    (8) Send the Web Page to catherinesuen@yahoo.com

  • Your teacher will show you how to make a web page using the Telus Web Page Tool.

    (9) Create two pieces of functional writing and submit it to your teacher using the webpage tool.
    You may use the writing samples on the "tools4writing" website as tools to give you ideas for your writing.

    (10) Post a message on the Message Board your teacher and let her know how you like this project.

    (11) Use the Message Board to talk to your e-pals or your classmates about your writing.
  • Reminder

    When you post your writing, remember to sign your writing with your first name only. Last names should not appear with your writing.

    Check the Writing Assessment Rubric before posting your message. This will help to make sure you have tried your best in writing.

    Here are some suggestions as to how you can use the " Tools for Writing" on this website :

    A

  • You may use the writing samples (samples) as tools to give you ideas for your writing.
  • You may copy and paste the samples and include them as part of your writing.
  • You may combine the different elements of the samples and change them to make it your own writing.
  • You can add to any of part of the sample and change it to make it your own writing.
  • You may decide to do your own writing without using any of the samples from "Tools for Writing".
  • You are also allowed to write on a topic of your own choice.
  • You may use the writing prompts on this website to help you in your writing.

    B

    You are encouraged to help others in writing by
  • Sending in spectacular opening and closing sentences and writing prompts.

    C

    When you finish your writing, please
  • Submit your writing to the message board and ask someone to respond to you by changing your story/writing.
  • Ask The person who responds to (i) edit or change the original story/writing and (ii) post the changed writing as well as your oringinal writing on the message board.
  • Your teacher will show you how to post the writing on the message board.

    D

    When you get the changed or edited story/writing,
  • Display the original and changed stories/writing on your web page with your original story.
  • Your teacher will show you how to make a web page using the Telus Web Page Tool.

    E

  • Post a message to your teacher and let her know how you like this project.
  • Use the Message Board to talk to your e-pals or your class mates about writing.
