Persuasive Christmas Letters |
| As a Christmas writing activity, my Grade 3/4 students were
asked to think of one present that they really wanted for Christmas.
They were to write a persuasive letter that included at least 4 good
reasons for why their families should buy this gift for them. |

| Dear Mom and Dad, How are you? I could help you with your shopping. I want a remote control car because I’ve been good by taking care of my brother and I helped him when he got hurt. I’ve never been late for school. I took more care of my brother by forgiving him when he hit me. I shared my toys with him. I've had been using my manners. Please get me a remote control car for Christmas. Love, A Dear Mom, How are you doing? I’m really excited about Christmas! I really want to see my Dad this winter. I’d like to see him because I’ll be happy and he’ll be happy. I only get to see him once a year. If you let me see him I’ll clean my room. It doesn’t cost a lot of money. Have I convinced you to let me see my dad yet? From your son A. DEAR MOM AND DAD, I am very happy that Christmas is coming up. I hope you are. This is what I want for Christmas. May I have a Gamecube, PLEASE? If I do I will be too busy playing quietly and I won’t make any noise. Instead of jumping around I will play nicely. It’s also too expensive and I don’t even a penny. I should deserve it because I was helping grandma around the house. Please dad I really want it. From C. Dear mom and dad, Aren’t you excited that Christmas is coming? There is something I really want, it is a telescope. I’ve always wanted my own telescope. I have reasons why I should have one. I like to look at the stars, but the best is to look at is Mars in the summer because it is so bright. When I look at Vega sometimes it changes colors, I like looking at the stars that changes colors, and it is so nice. Sometimes I see bright thing moving I do believe those are U.F.O’s I like U.F.O’s. I will use it properly no matter what. I will be a good kid. Can you PLEASE! Get me a telescope? Love, C. I would like a husky but it will be a puppy. I can’t wait till Christmas. I was wondering if I could help you with my Christmas presents. I would LOVE a 100-page math test. I would do it in two weeks. It is cheap to get. You could get off the Internet. I could study hard and long. I would learn the stuff over and over. Last but not least I would learn multiplying, addition, dividing and subtraction. Oh please can I get a 100-page math test. P.S. Any presents you get me is great Love, C Dear Mom, Are you as excited about Christmas as I am? I’m writing to you about what I want for Christmas. I would really like a cell phone for Christmas. PLEASE! I beg you! I’ve done my chores. I did the walks and cleaned my room all by myself. It could save my life. I wouldn’t make prank calls and if someone kidnapped me I would phone the Police! I would take very good care of it. I’d pay my cell phone bill and not use it as a toy! I could talk to my friends whenever I want to. If someone is on the phone I can use my cell phone and I would listen to you. That is what I want for Christmas. Sincerely, D. When we are fishing and I want to take a break I can drive it around. I have also been really good and I really want a remote control boat! By T. Dear Grandma, I would like a remote control car for Christmas. You can put my drinks on it and drive it back to my room. I will play with it and make jumps for it too. Also in the garage it can bring me my tools. So if you do I will jump with joy. From T. Dear Mom, I really want the video game Mario Cart double dash for Christmas! I will not have to play the old fashioned games anymore! My friends and me can have lots of fun! I will not be bored of the old Games anymore! I helped you with laundry I do not complain lots.
