When you have installed Player Connector, start it up with the
shortcut in your Start menu. |

When Player Connector starts it shows you
the login dialog. Click on the Create an Account button
to make your account. It is at the bottom of the dialog.
Enter your information (only your name
and password are required), and click Create Account.
Once your account is created, you will
see the login screen again with your login information. Just
click the Login button on the right of the window.
Preparing Player Connector
Now you need to tell Player Connector where
your games are. Go to the Soldier Of Fortune 2 Demo Setup...
in the Support menu. It will show you the configuration
for Soldier of Fortune II.
Click the button with the 3 dots ... where
it says Engine Folder. Now select the directory where
you Installed Soldier of Fortune 2, and click OK on both dialogs.
Now you are ready to play!
Joining a game
Press F2 or click the Rooms tab to see
the list of online multiplayer servers and game rooms. Double
click on one of these icons to enter the room. A room is much
like an IRC channel, but also serves a way to view, join and
set up a game online.
When the game is already playing, you can
click Join Game to start playing. When the game is not
playing, you need to wait for the room moderator to start the
game. You can indicate that you want to play by checking the
Ready to Play or Moderate box.
Doomers: Using extra WAD files
Many games use additional WAD files (called
PWADs) which contain extra maps or extra sounds and graphics.
You will have to make a directory on your hard disk to store
these PWAD files in. Then go to Custom Files Locations...
in the Support menu.
Click the Add Folder button to browse
for the directory you created to store your PWAD files in. After
that, you may also want to select the directory in the box below
where it says Download to. This allows Player Connector
to automatically download new PWAD files you need to play.
When you enter a room where a game is being
played with extra files you don't have, chances are that this
file is available for download somewhere at the internet. You
can type /getall in the chat bar, press ENTER and Player
Connector will search, download and unzip the files you need.
When the message All files are OK for
this game is displayed, it means you have all the files needed
and you can join this game.
