Eric Cobham of England and his wife Maria Lindsay were based in Newfoundland 1740-1760. This two were vicious pirates who plundered shipping in the Gulf of St Lawrence and went undetected because they sank nearly every ship captured and killed the crew. Cobham retired to France and became a magistrate and his wife a sadist who delighted in bizarre executions went insane and killed herself.
