BEEFS & BOUQUET

"What can I say, except WOW!!!  Your site is a truly astounding piece of work
and has definitely made my decade.
This (site) has actually tracked hundreds (if not thousands) of original white settlers
and where they went geographically.  This (site) has saved us all years of research.
I have only had a chance to scan the Metis and genealogy sections
but I expect to spend many enjoyable hours absorbing your information."
M.F. Dunn - 01-2000

"I really love your website"
Ken Suitor - 02-2000

"Thank you for directing me to your amazing web site. I have spent most of the day reading through it.
It is a remarkable achievement. Congratulations.
Your impressive fieldwork has personalized much of my academic endeavors.
I'm overwhelmed by your documentation."
Dawn Garneau - 02-2000

"Wow - what a site! We are overwhelmed!"
Ken & Joyce Gardner, Colorado - 04-2000

"Your site is wonderful,
to be able to read of happenings with the perspective of dates is a gift to all of us,
who try to understand Metis/Indian history."
Jean Loehde - 04-2000

"I just made a brief visit to your web site and was quite impressed."
"It's quite a piece of work, and very interesting reading.
I'll be downloading piece by piece and reading the entire work."
Noel Smith - 05-2000

"I really enjoyed your Metis history site.
Obviously you have been working on your history (and Genealogy) for quite a while"
Diane Sheppard, Ontario - 05-2000

While looking through your pages, I was wholeheartedly disgusted at your claim
that the Scots introduced racism against the indigenous peoples of Canada.
I am of Scottish, French, Mohawk and Cree ancestry.
The Scots were not at all racist or disparaging towards the natives of this land,
and in truth were their good friends, demonstrated by a plethora of intermarriage.
Please do not be upset,
I am not angry at you as a person nor do I wish to insult you.
I merely seek to correct the error you made. Thank you for reading this.
Iain MacDonell - 05-2000

Tansi~ wanted to thank you personally for sharing your ancestral spirit with all the world
...Metis , Indian, and European.
We may not like how it all happened but one thing is for sure
...we got enough mixed blood in us to make it right this time!
History is the voice of our ancestors; traditions are our lifelines.
I will soon have my web site on-look for it "Below the Medicine Line Metis Society".
I live in Cave Junction Oregon.
Born and raised in the Willamette Valley; a H.B.C. transplant of course.
I did not have time to finish reading all your history but I plan to return soon and finish.
Blessings; Sarah - 05-2000

I really enjoyed getting a look at your site.
I enjoy finding and have always enjoyed finding historians
a little more aware of a better version
of what actually happened in the continent's history
and in the present countries' and nations' origins.
Are you Metis or connected to the slew of NorWester offsprings?
I am interested as a Metis, a NorWester and a lover of new improved versions of history.
Martin Carriere - 05-2000

WOW!! I just stumbled upon your epic novel of our heritage the
METIS NATION OF THE NORTH WEST
and I must express my utmost admiration for the work you have done!!!
Unfortunately, I have not had time to read it all yet, as I am busy printing it all out,
but what I have read so far is completely astounding!!
In my opinion, it is the "go-to" manual for anyone interested in the Metis culture.
Luc Lacroix Fort-Coulonge, Québec - 05-2000

Congratulations on a wonderful website.
It is refreshing to see another point of view
than the propaganda which we are fed from Hollywood or biased history books.
Al McMillen Oshaw, Ontario - 06-2000

Bravo
I browse through your site and found it most interesting.
It presents aspects of Canadian history often overseen.
I will surely come back.
Daniel (Louis Le Jeune) - 06-2000

The Metis Historical Website.
Most of the site is chronologically set.
The information is excellent.
A very good site indeed.
M J Durocher - 07-2000

Reading the history of the Metis culture, I became very annoyed.
You continually rant and rave about what the French, Catholics and particular the Jesuits did to your ancestors.
I can't trust much of what you write because you come off like some kind of nut-ball.
You should have exercised a wee bit of restraint.
Liz - 07-2000

I would be remiss if I did not say that your site is a marvel
thank you for sharing it with us.
Terry O - 07-2000

This is such an expansive work that I am exhausted reading it.
Dave Goodnow - 07-2000

Thank you so much for sharing the fruit of your research with the rest of us.
Jennifer Harrison - 07-2000

Your website site is extraordinary.
I have book marked it and will return to it often.
Thank you for all your work, it is remarkable.
Shirley Olson - 07-2000

Thanks for your contribution of ignorant and intolerant views
on the history of the European people.
This is really what we all need right now,
to find more peoples that we can defame and disgrace by reckless disregard for truth.
Jim and Charmin Shiely - 07-2000

Just looking in on your site.
Many congratulations. Very well done.
Tom Thievin Red Deer, Alberta - 07-2000

You have a fascinating website, with material I've never seen before,
like Les Filles du Roi.
I look forward to visiting your site often to learn more.
Frank Lanou, Northwest United States - 07-2000

History of Alberta (section)
Your history of the Vatican ratline and related information is very concise and correct.
You did a fine job of summing it all up.
Jonathan Levy - http://www.vaticanbankclaims.com - 07-2000

I think the internet offers opportunities to regain some of the good that has been lost,
in recent centuries.
To shift some of our focus away from the Game,
and onto the Players.
Thanks for the long endeavor you have pursued,
and for putting it up on the web,
for us.
Ted Clayton - 07-2000

My friend was just diagnosed with MS.
Your site was the first site I visited for more information.
Bravo.
Much of the information you included compliments the information
I've collected over the years regarding the nervous system.
D Temr - 07-2000

There aren't many dedicated spirits like yourself
providing content for free anymore..
Brent Johner - 07-2000

I came across your web site quite by accident
but I feel as if I struck gold.
What you have documented regarding the integration of the French and Native Canadian Indians
was just what I was looking for.
The compilation of writings about the Metis to me is a work of art.
I thank you for your hard work and wonderful research.
I am fascinated by what I have read thus far.
Mary Powers, MA, USA - 08-2000

I ran across your site
and spent half the night on it
and will probably go back several more times.
Lyle Trottier - 08-2000

I just came across your fascinating write ups of the Metis history.
It is fascinating to learn something of the culture in which they (my ancestors) would have been immersed.
Your web page is a wonderful find.
I will be spreading the word far and wide about your site.
Thank you for doing this.
David Palmquist, Delta, B.C. - 08-2000

I just wanted to say you have a great site.
Thank you for your information.
Tannis Nielsen - 08-2000

Really enjoying your information time line of Metis history.
I am particularly in favor of the idea of universal technical access-making your site accessible to all.
Educational sites are often accessed by older computers/modems.
The word 'savage' at first is a bit weird
but with the many nuances of meaning there is no single (editorial) approach,
so you go boldly forward with it.
A great find too is the reliable and in-depth information on MS.
Christine Hastie - 08-2000

I wanted to write and express my gratitude and interest in your site.
I have great pride in my heritage, both the French and any Indian bloodline.
I wish I knew more;
learning about what you have researched
is providing me with a greater understanding of the events surrounding our heritage.
Thank you for providing this information.
Linda Bernard, California - 08-2000

I am new to genealogy and some sites seem to intense for finding data.
Yours was easy to read and understand and made it easier to see relationships.
Each new name (found) is exciting
and makes me want to reread history books to know more about the time they lived in.
THANK YOU for your informative and interesting pages.
Starke Raving - 08-2000

I'd like to thank you for creating an informative and educational site.
Keep up the good work on your site.
I plan to visit it often over the next few months.
Bruce Wilson, Montreal, Quebec - 09-2000

When I found your site I said to myself what a good idea and have gone over it several times.
And every time I find something else for my records.
Lyle Trottier, California - 09-2000

I've enjoyed your history very much - as far as I've read.
A correction was offered re: Kensington Runestone - Indian section 1362 A.D.
Pierre Girard - 09-2000

I read part of your site and it looks fantastic.
Good luck, and I hope this is your first response from Newfoundland.
Barb Siguardson - 09-2000

I came across your web page Alberta History.
The data definitely warrants careful study,
I found it at first glance to offer a fascinating interpretation of historical events.
Your writing offers interesting insights.
I cannot thank you enough for what you offer your readers.
It is fabulous.

Phyllis Vonherrlich, Maine - 10-2000

Just a note to let you know I've been reading your web page.
Taking me awhile to get through it (great eyes NOT) *smile*.
Finding it most interesting reading the studies on the meds for MS.
Will continue to read. Thanks so much for sharing it with me.
Maggie Rice - 10-2000

Thank you for your site.
I love this stuff, hope you don't mind a little enthusiasm.
So glad you have your search and are willing to share with others.
Love, peace and service to mankind.
Tia Nighteagle - 10-2000

Congratulations on a superbe website!.
And thank you so much for enlighting all about our history.
I have been researching Metis history for years now
and never came across a document that was so beautifully put together
and so informative.
Once again I would like to congratulate you on your fabulous website!
Karole Red Hawk - Ontario - 10-2000

This website is just wonderful.
I wish I had found this site a long time ago.
I haven't read the whole thing yet but from what I have,
it's just a goldmine on information for so many.
Best to you and thanks so much for this excellent website.
Kim Brooks Ontario, Canada - 10-2000

Thanks for a wonderful site.
Judy Hart - 10-2000

Hi! please bear with me I'm 75 years old and trying to learn the computer
and type too.
I've been on your site all day and I've learned much.
Your site has given me so much insight into the plight of the Metis
and Native People who have given so much to us.
Nina Hurteau - 10-2000

This entire document (Canada History a Distinct Viewpoint).
was downloaded in October 2000.
Permission to print this document in its entirety for personal use,
as well as display for public research
at the Mattawa John Dixon Public Library's Genealogy Research Centre
was obtained from Dick Garneau, author of this website.
Our sincerest thanks to Mr. Garneau for offering all Metis descendents
this unique and invaluable opportunity to explore our heritage.
Karole Dimont-Beckett - 11-2000

I am thoroughly enjoying your website.
I haven't had a chance to look through it all.
Thank you for your website--it is very interesting!
Leanne Conley - 11-2000

Are you interested either in selling the content of your site
or in working out a pay-per-view deal?
"Nope! I am only interested in a view-for-free deal.
It's my contribution to society
." Dick
Brent Johner - 11-2000

I am doing research for a projected documentary series on Canadian history,
from a non-European perspective,
I have been lucky enough to stumble upon your web-site.
Your richly detailed history of pre-European life in America
is something that has been sadly lacking in sources that I've located up to this point.
Brian Zelnicker, Montreal - 11-2000

What a fantastic job!
You and your site will be quoted for some much needed information!
I love the photo gallery!
Excellent! Excellent! Excellent!
Karen Ste. Claire, Michigan - 11-2000

What an amazing amount of work - - obviously a "life's work"!
With many thanks -- both for your extensive website, and for any direction or suggestions
you may be able to give me.
Kaye Steward - 11-2000

It is Metis week here in Alberta.
I heard it on the morning news show.
He said Louis Riel is a very important figure in Metis history.
He didn't tell me who he was or what it was that he did though.
Can you please give me some information.
Candice Mann - 11-2000

I am really amazed at the detail that you have done.
My family can be traced back to 1680, thanks to your dedication.
It took me a long time to go through your website, but it was sure interesting.
Keep up your good work, perseverance is the name of the game.
Arlene Hamelin - 11-2000

I found your excellent website.
You have done a GREAT deal of work, you certainly have saved me a lot of effort.
Your whole website is truly very impressive and I have spent many hours reading
and have lots more still undiscovered there.
Ron Salzl - 11-2000

Thank you very much for putting this site on the web.
I will bookmark this page. My ancestors came from Canada.
This tells me more about the time and how they lived.
Again thanks and keep up the good work.
Michelle Landroche - 11-2000

Congratulations on your very informative web site!
I have downloaded most of your history pages
and will read them off-line at my leisure as
most of what I did read was very interesting.
Madeleine MacDonald - 11-2000

I was absolutely fascinated to see your wonderful website
I've been researching this subject for a while,
and have rarely come across such a wealth of information.
Once again, thank you for directing me to your website.
Melissa Blackburn, London - 11-2000

I just discovered your page and as a descendent of many of the first French settlers in Canada
I believe that you do the natives of Canada an injustice by calling them "savages".
Indians take great offense at this archaic term.
I am just a grandparent and teacher who wants to see an acceptance of all people
and one small way of doing that is to get rid of prejudice labeling.
Keep up the good research.
Lorraine - 11-2000

Suggesting that Metis and Indians put a holy value on the concept of generosity
is really stretching historical credibility.
The native is glorified as a "noble" creature of sorts, in today's politically correct society.
In truth, one should not be ignorant of the fact that any relatively primitive, or tribal society,
does not ascribe to any premise other than "might is right" and "survival of the fittest."
That is the way it had to be to survive.
Then and only then does the concept of "generosity" come into play.
Food, slaves and women were fair game on their agenda.
The English were in it for the long haul [land and settlement]
The French were in it for the short [furs].
I do admire the amount of work you have put into your thesis.
A. Dempster - 11-2000

I enjoyed your site so much I referred the link to Roots Web
And they have put it in their news letter that goes out to all who subscribe.
Best regards.
Michelle Landrouche - 11-2000

Just found your site through a link on MISSING LINKS -
part of ROOTS WEB.
You are developing an interesting site
and I will look in on it from time to time.
Al Riel - 11-2000

"An excellent piece of work into which I want to dig."
A Web Roots Review
My interest is the history of the west
and the part played by the Metis and French across Canada,
the northern tier of States, Mississippi to Louisiana and Oregon Country.
Again, I appreciate your work, and thank you.
Graham Findley, Arizona - 11-2000

Lorna Hank - 12-2000

Thank you very much for your devotion to truth.
Your website is wonderful especially because it can be translated into several languages.
Penelope Chisholm - 12-2000

Oh, if only Canadian history really was the the story of the
children of light struggling against the children of darkness,
as you want to believe.
Fortunately the world that we live in is more robust,
much richer than the two-dimensional construct that you are trying to sell.
You are contaminating the good points that can be made on behalf of the Metis.
Au voir, mon ami.
Jim Patras, Alaska - 12-2000

hi...great site!
I am doing research on the Metis in the pacific northwest in the 1800s
and your site has given me some great insights and points of reference.
thank you
Kari Goglin - 12-2000

I "stumbled" across your website this afternoon and
I want to say how pleased it made me to find this sort of documentation at a site!
It will take me many hours/days to completely go through all the date.

I read your story on the Metis,
it is very good.
Bob Dumont - 12-2000
