(1)-John Sayer (1750-1818) of Sault Ste Marie, formally of Fond Du Lac and now a member of Compagne Generale is living at Red Lake, Minnesota in 1789,

1776 began free trading at Fond du Lac (Dukith-Superior, Minnosita)

1st Married 1781 Marie Indian.  Marie Indian could be Bwa-ne-quay (also known as Obemauuoqua as per Heather) a Dakota Sioux daughter Mamongazida or Big Foot. Others suggest married (Nancy?) Obemau-unoqua daughter of Momangazida; they had at least seven children

2nd marriage 1795 Elizabeth McPherson 

1776 John began trading 1776 and retired to Montreal 1805-07.

1780 John was at Leech Lake in 1780 as agent for Joseph Howard of Machilimackinac.

1781 Smallpox destroyed the Ojibwa around Lake Superior and John lost his trading partners.

1785 Formed General Company of Lake Superior and the South aka General Society but it failed by 1788

1788 Joined with Jean Baptiste Perrault (1761-1844), Jean Baptiste Cadot (Cadotte) Jr (1761-1818), Calelet, Joseph Reaume (1739-1796), Alex Reaume (1739-1796) and Gabriel Attina dit Laviolette

1789 Sayer, Joseph Reaume(1739-1796), Jean Baptiste Cadotte (1761-1818) and Gabriel Attina dit Laviolette are at Upper Red Lake's, Minnesota

John founded the J. Sayer & Company in 1791 and became an agent of NWC which was absorbed by NWC by 1797

He joined the Northwest Company about 1891.  Old man Sayer's sons (Pierre Guillaume (1796-1849) is the one who moved west according to Heather) moved west of Sault Ste Marie according to treaty of 1854 records.

Married  about 1840 Lusette a Metis.  This is likely the only wife of William Sayer. or

William Sayer (ID # 4274) born 1796 North West, Genealogy of First Metis Nation suggests William is born 1796 North West.  The 1786 however is more likely.

Married about 1815 (II)-Josephite Frobisher a Metis born 1795 North West Territories still living 1875 daughter (I)-Frobisher an Irishman and Indian woman, source 1875 Metis script, issued to widow August 21, 1876.  This appears to be a fabrication based on Pierre's wife?? See 1820

Louis Sayer (ID # 4272) born 1826 N.W.T. living Red River 1840 census, son William Sayer Metis and Josephite Frobisher Metis married January 22, 1850 Suzanne Louise Fleury Metis born 1833 daughter Louis Fleury and Josephle Indian.  Script issued August 1876 to Suzanne Sayer and also Louis Sayer of Baie St. Paul.  Genealogy of First Metis Nation suggests Louis is the son of William born 1796.  See 1850, this suggests a major conflict between William and Pierre as the father??

Joseph Sayer (ID # 4273) Metis born 1843 St. Francis, Red River son  William Sayer Metis and Josephite Frobisher Metis.  Script issued August 21, 1876 Baie St. Paul also see 1820.  Clearly a Sayer but in two places could be easily confused with Tayer.  Genealogy of First Metis Nation suggests married (II)-Euphrasine Desjarlais born 1848 daughter (I)-Francois Desjarlais born 1800 Orkney, Scotland and (I)-Marie Otshonkan born 1810 Orkney, Scotland. Genealogy of First Metis Nation suggests Joseph is the son of William born 1796.  See 1875, this appears to be a fabrication and Joseph is the son of Pierre.

Script issued October, 1876 to Mary Sayer.

Henry Sayer Metis (ID # 4276) born 1841 St. Francis Xavier, Manitoba son William Sayer Metis and Lusette metis, living Headingly, Manitoba in 1875.  Script issued September 20, 1876.  see 1820.  Genealogy of First Metis Nation suggests Henry is son of William and Josephite Frobisher, script records suggest Henry is son of Pierre see 1857.

Cleopas (Cleophar) Sayer Metis (ID # 4275) born March 1849 St. Francis, Red River living 1875 St. Charles, Headingly, Manitoba, script issued July 18, 1876 St. Charles son William Sayer born 1796 Metis and Luisette or (Susette) Frobisher Metis married about 1870 Marie Anne Caplittle born 1851 St. Charles, Red River daughter Denis Caplittle (Capilitte) and Betsy Baymner (Brenner) both listed as Metis.  Script issued July 18, 1876 Marie Sayer at St. Charles.  Listed as Sayer in script but record could be interpreted as Tayler.

1820 RED RIVER

(II)-Pierre Guillaume Sayer Metis (1796-1849) or born 1801-1803 (ID # 487) Ruperts Land son (I)-John Sayer (1750-1818) and Obemau-unooua other suggest  son (2)-Pierre Sayer a Metis and Marguerite Sauteaux;  NWC (1818-1821) Cumberland House,  HBC (1825-1826) New Caledonia, and HBC (1826-1827) Columbia District, Pierre Guillaume Sayer is arrested Red River by Hudson Bay Company for illegally trafficking in furs.  The trial resulted in the Metis proclaiming liberty and free trade breaking the Hudson Bay Company monopoly for all times.  Listed as Bowsman and Steersman with Hudson Bay Company 1828 to 1832.  Others suggest Pierre is the son of John Sayer Metis (1750-1818) from Sault Ste Marie formally Fond du Lac and Marie Bwaneguay a Dakota Sioux daughter Mamongazida (Big foot) still others suggest wife was Obemau-unoqua

Married about 1821, churched March 2, 1835 St. Francis Xavier, Red River Josephte Frobisher Metis born 1795-1807 Canada baptised March 2, 1835 St. Francis Xavier, Red River daughter Alexander Forbisher and Marguerite Cree.  Source Louis Riel collected writings U of A press 1985 p-341.  It would appear that Pierre adopted William's children upon his death in 1855.  See 1815.
