WikiLeaks is an international non-profit media organization that publishes
submissions of otherwise unavailable documents from anonymous sources.
It was created in 2006. The
organization has described itself as having been founded by Chinese
dissidents, as well as journalists, mathematicians, and start-up company
technologists from the U.S., Taiwan, Europe, Australia and South Africa.
Little is known about the day-to-day functioning of WikiLeaks. It
has no headquarters, few if any paid staff, hard if not impossible for the
mighty USA to impose censorship.
Despite
coming under a cyber attack that took down its main website earlier in the
day, WikiLeaks started publishing the 251,287 cables - 15,652 of which are
classified "secret" - from 274 US embassies around the world on a
sub-website. In an introduction,
it painted the United States as a hypocritical superpower and attacked
"the contradictions between the US's public persona and what it says
behind closed doors”.
Amazon even went
as far as to remove WikiLeak’s servers from their web service as a result of
government pressure. Some are already boycotting Amazon. First
Amendment to the Constitution protects WikiLeaks. It also protects Amazon.
The USA Government effectively "killing"
its web address just days after Amazon pulled the site from its servers
following political pressure. The website went offline for the third
time in a week this morning, in the biggest threat to its online presence
yet. Homeland security is believed involved.
The White House hit back, saying the release was a "reckless and
dangerous action" that put lives in danger. WikiLeaks “war
diaries”, these documents appear to have caused little actual damage,
besides being rather embarrassing to the U.S. The White House
credibility is in question and is in direct violation of President John F.
Kennedy proclaimed Principles of Governance that led us out of the cold
war.
The Prime suspect in the leak is Bradley Manning b-1987. Has admitted to
'wanting' to release 260,000 classified documents saying it's public data, it
belongs to the public domain.
Julian Assange b-1971, an Australian journalist and publisher, says - If - Bradley Manning - is behind
some of our recent disclosures, then he is without doubt an unparalleled hero.
Julian Assange b-1971, an Australian journalist and publisher, says he’s the victim, of a “smear campaign” aimed at
discrediting his website. Sweden's actions against Assange have the
trappings of persecution not prosecution.
The country’s Attorney General Robert McClelland admitted to a newspaper
that Australia cooperated on security matters with international bodies, but
refused to say whether they shared information about Julian Assange b-1971, an Australian journalist and
publisher, who was
born in Australia.
A USA Government
notice was issued: No military computer can be used to visit Wikileaks
sites or any site containing such information. Most newspapers publish
such information therefore they are restricted. The message is clear,
don't mess with Uncle Sam.
WikiLeaks is facing attacks in cyberspace and in the legal sphere by the USA.
The site is assailed by hackers and has been booted from its U.S. server.
U.S. politicians have called for Assange b-1971, an Australian journalist and
publisher, to be prosecuted for espionage — or
worse. Former Republican vice
presidential candidate Sarah Palin asked on Facebook: "Why was he not
pursued with the same urgency we pursue al-Qaida and Taliban leaders?" "In
the end, someone must be responsible to the public and only a leadership that
is willing to be publicly courageous can genuinely suggest that sources take
risks for the greater good,"
Wikileaks is sending the "Cablegate" material and other secret
documents in encrypted form "to over 100,000 people." [Sounds
like an execration, likely closed to 10,000]
"I think the basic concept (of Wikileaks) has a future," said Steven Aftergood, who works on government secrecy policy for the Federation of American Scientists. "Anonymous disclosure of restricted records is easier than it has ever been. The virtues of transparency and government accountability are more widely recognized than they have ever been. Those two factors together provide a foundation for this kind of activity.
The Icelandic government recently passed a resolution in favor of a bill that aims to turn the tiny nation into a journalistic haven by granting high-level protection to investigative journalists and their sources from super power governments. Previously Iceland had placed a gag order on WikiLeaks. However WikiLeaks proposed Iceland become a journalist haven.
2010 December 3; US defense secretary and former senior CIA official Robert Gates, who described the reaction to the leaking of the cables as "significantly over-wrought". He pointed out that every country on earth knows that the US government has leaked like a sieve for a long time.
2010, December 6: Operation Payback (claims to have an army of 9,000 and growing daily) has officially declared Internet War by saying "We will fire at anyone that tries to censor WikiLeaks". They believe the Internet is a new Basic Human Right. Their first target was to shut down a Swiss Bank PostFinancial that on December 6. 2010 froze funds belonging to WikiLeaks. Their site was still down at reporting time December 7. They plan an attack on PayPal and Amazon is on the short list. The Swedish Prosecution Authority web site is under attack by an anonymous source.
2010 December 8;
Who and what is being said in the Internet Cyber War.
Joe Liberman a Senate Committee on
Homeland Security and Government Affairs, said that “the news organization, and others that published American
diplomatic cables obtained and distributed by WikiLeaks, might be subject to
criminal investigation”.
“We should treat Mr Assange the same way as other high-value terrorist
targets: Kill him,” writes conservative columnist Jeffrey T Kuhner in the
Washington Times.
William Kristol, former chief of staff to vice president Dan Quayle, asks,
“Why can’t we use our various assets to harass, snatch or neutralize Julian
Assange and his collaborators, wherever they are?”
“Why isn’t Julian Assange dead?” writes the prominent US pundit Jonah
Goldberg.
“The CIA should have already killed Julian Assange,” says John Hawkins on
the Right Wing News site.
Sarah Palin, a likely presidential candidate, compares Assange to an Al Qaeda
leader;
Rick Santorum, former Pennsylvania senator and potential presidential contender,
accuses Assange of “terrorism”.
Tom Flanagan
a former senior adviser to Canadian Prime Minister, a senior fellow at
the Fraser Institute, said Assange should be assassinated ... I think Obama should put out a
contract ... I wouldn't feel unhappy if Assange does disappear." ,
December 8, 2010:
PayPal today admitted it suspended payments to WikiLeaks after an
intervention from the US State Department, December 4, 2010. [They are
likely trying to divert the attack on them to the State Department] [PayPal
is very venerable to a serious Trojan attacks as they are not a bank and provide
no guarantees of lost funds]
December 8, 2010: Visa – apparently acting under intense pressure from
Washington – announced it was suspending all payments to WikiLeaks. Visa was
following MasterCard, PayPal and Amazon, all of which have severed ties with the
site and its founder Julian Assange in the last few days.
The companies have justified their decision to stop donations on the
grounds that WikiLeaks is acting "illegally" an allegation of the
State Department. No illegal action
are identified in law. In fact
members of the Supreme court suggests there is no illegality by WikiLeaks.
2010 December 14:
The German hackers club an important cell of WikiLeaks headed by Daniel
Domescheit-Berg b-1978 has broken away to form OpenLeaks.
They are promising transparency with a direct link to the media and a
lack of celebrity. Other new
whistleblower web sites are springing up.
2010 December 18: Bank of America Corp. has joined several other financial
institutions in refusing to handle payments for WikiLeaks
2010 December 19: USA Vice-President Joe Biden said Julian Assange is a dangerous "high-tech Terrorist" by this statement he also labels the New York Times in the same camp as well as newspapers around the country.
2010 December
22: USA Apple on Tuesday confirmed that it had removed from its online
store an iPhone and iPad application that lets users view the content on the
WikiLeacks site and follow the WikiLeaks Twitter account which was only up for 3
days.
2011 January 13: WikiLeak website that has published thousands of confidential US embassy cables,
has donated $15,100 (£9,500) to the legal defense fund of Bradley
Manning, the soldier accused of handing providing it with the digital trove, as
promised last year. The support network calculates that the legal fund
needs to have at least $115,000 to fight a vigorous defense. Including the
WikiLeaks donation, it has collected more than $100,000.
2011 February 02; “By disclosing information about corruption, human rights abuses and war crimes, WikiLeaks is a natural contender for the Nobel Peace Prize,”
2011 March 13: PJ Crowley, the official spokesman at the state department, resigned after saying "What is being done to Bradley Manning is ridiculous and counterproductive and stupid on the part of the department of defense." Bradley Manning is accused of leaking the WikiLeak papers. Manning has been held in solitary confinement for the past 10 months. He is being subjected to a prevention of injury order, which sees him kept in his cell for 23 hours a day and stripped naked at night. The UN is also investigating this inhuman punishment.
TOPICS of
INTEREST
are as follows by number of leaked documents: However it should be noted
that they contain only confidential and secret rated documents. NO TOP
SECRET DOCUMENTS ARE INCLUDED therefore they are only an embarrassment, so
far, and does not threaten National Security in "my opinion".
External political relations – 145,451
Internal government affairs – 122,896
Human rights – 55,211
Economic Conditions – 49,044
Terrorists and terrorism – 28,801
UN security council – 6,532
However
I will organize them into topics of my interest which also appears to be the
national leaders areas of interest/concern.
NEWSPAPERS
WITH COPIES OF LEAKED DOCUMENTS
U.K. - London Guardian:
Prince Andrew denounced Guardian reporters
investigating bribery as "those (expletive) journalists.. who poke their
noses everywhere". [This is likely why this news paper was given
the Wikigate leaked files.]
American - New York Times [New York Times has a history of down playing
information leaks, ie. Climate-Gate]
France - Le Monde
Spain - El Pas
Germany - Der Spiegel
[Keep in mind they all will suppress some politically sensitive material,
legally sensitive information by country and
will highlight politically correct material concerning their own country.
This strategy of releasing however was brilliant and outperforms Climate-Gate].
WikiLeaks has won countless awards, including The Economist’s 2008 New Media
Award and the 2009 Amnesty International U.K. Media Award.
Journalism should be edgy and dangerous. The media is intended to rein in the
government and ensure accountability. The
responses from most professional journalists in America have been downright
disappointing. Instead of
investigating, they have fallen back to renouncing an organization that merely
a year ago they were praising. The
news media tried to sweep Climategate under the rug and are now trying to sweep
Wikigate under the rug. It didn’t
work, so when will so called professional journalists get with the new
technology and program?
These so called professional journalists should listen to John F, Kennedy speech
on Government and press censorship and the secret devils. 2007, July 30.
Tom Flanagan, a [former] senior adviser to Canadian Prime Minister
recently stated "I think Assange b-1971, an Australian journalist and
publisher, should be assassinated ... I think Obama
should put out a contract ... I wouldn't feel unhappy if Assange does
disappear."
How do you feel about this?
The US military in Iraq is trying to censor its soldiers from viewing WikiLeaks documents and has posted a web advisory suggesting they could be breaking the law
Julian Assange b-1971, an Australian journalist and publisher, in London is held without bail for a week pending review of extradition request from Sweden and USA.

a society where truth becomes treason, we are in big trouble.”.

MIDDLE EAST CONCERNS/ISSUES;
There appears to be a consensus that "Iran is a disaster waiting to happen."
THE PLAYERS:
Egypt's President Hosni Mubarak and his
government is under siege
Iranian
President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is compared to Hitler. The French suggest
"The current
Iranian regime is effectively a fascist state and the time has come to decide
on next steps."
Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Kalki is viewed with suspicion by it's Arab neighbors. Saudi King Abdullah said 'Maliki had no credibility'.
Afghan President Hamid Karzai as paranoid, with an "inability to grasp the most
rudimentary principles of state-building, and overly self-conscious that his
time in the spotlight of glowing reviews from the international community has
passed.
Algeria president Abdelaziz Bouteflika's military regime corruption is rampant
Lebanon Hezbollah is a Shite Muslin milita movement
King Abdullan bin Abulaziz of Saudi Arabia having struggled with a speech impediment throughout his life, he tends to express himself tersely. [He appears to be a man of wisdom] [He also appears to speak his mind to those he disapproves of, no diplomatic type secrets, at least so far]
Mohammed bin Zayed Al-Nahyan age 47 aka MBZ, crown prince of the Emerate of Abu Dahabi so far only good comments about this man.
Libyan leader Col. Muammar Ghaddafi “relies heavily on his long-time Ukrainian nurse, Galyna Kolotnytska, who has been described as a ‘voluptuous blonde.’ He has intense phobias; fear of staying in upper floors, fear of flying over water, and is obsessively dependent on a small core of trusted personnel.
Oman Sultan Qaboos places a high emphasis on education and "frankness and clarity,"
Yemen 'Emerate president, Ali Abdullah Saleh is bizarre and petulant being accused of corruption, nepotism and human rights abuses.
Qatari prime minister, Sheikh Hamad bin Jassim al-Thani
Eritrea just north of Ethiopia is run by a totalitarian narcissistic
President, Isais Afwerki, is described as 'cruel and defiant'
Emerate of Abu Dahabi :
Zine el Abidine Ben Ali and his
wife, Leila Trabelsi have fled to Saudi Arabia as the people revolt
THE COMMENTS:
Saudi Aribia King
Abdullah has urged Iran to 'spare us your evil'. "Iran's goal is to
cause problems", "there is no doubt something unstable about
them" [Iranians]
Saudi King
Abdullah is reported to have “frequently exhorted the USA to attack Iran to
put an end to its nuclear weapons program.”
Saudi official warned that if Iran is not stopped,
gulf Arab states would develop their own nuclear weapons. We risk
nuclear proliferation in the Middle East, war prompted by Isreali strike, or
both.
Saudi Arabia remains the chief financiers of
militant groups like al Qaeda. [This is likely from the eastern region
of Saudi Arabia]
Saudi ambassador to Washington, Adel al-Jubeir, quotes King Abdullah as saying concerning Iran “Cut off the head of the snake.” [Meaning Mahmound Ahmadinetad, president of Iran].
Saudi Arabia's top concerns, including its strong aversion to mixing trade and environmental priorities. "Ask any Saudi," Al-Alamy said, "they all think Saudi Arabia will be asked to foot the bill for climate change." If duties are placed on oil and gas, Saudi Arabia will not be able to move ahead with its economic diversification plans, and this creates a "phobia" of climate change talks.
Saudi: Donors in Saudi Arabia were the "most significant source of funding to Sunni terrorist groups worldwide". The groups funded include al-Qaeda, the Taliban and Lashkar-e-Taiba, The memo, released by Wikileaks, also criticized efforts to combat militants by the UAE, Qatar and Kuwait.
Saudi: A cable dated Jan. 26, 2010, records Assistant Secretary of State Jeffrey D. Feltman, of the Bureau of Near Eastern Affairs, saying that Saudi Arabia's minister of petroleum, Ali bin Ibrahim Al-Naimi, "was involved in crafting the final agreement" of the Copenhagen Accord. Saudi Arabia believes it has the most to lose from any binding emissions targets, and will never sign on to them. The Saudis believe greenhouse-gas regulation is one of the greatest threats to their economic future, right up there with a nuclear Iran and internal political instability. (They also believe it is based on false science.)
Saudi Arabia proposed creating an Arab force backed by US and Nato air and sea power to intervene in Lebanon two years ago and destroy Iranian-backed Hezbollah, according to a US diplomatic cable released by WikiLeaks.
It is believed Kuwait, Behrain and Oatar would like the USA to attack Iran. Jordan and Egypt are deeply hostile to Iran.
Pakistan: it has
been proven that the Government was directly involved in assisting the Taliban.
Pakistan: has been selling nuclear technology to North Korea, Iran
and Libya.
Egypt considers Iran a significant threat to Egypt by supporting jihad and spoiling peace.
Egyptian military led by Defense Minister Tantawi continues to train
and exercise as if "Israel was its only enemy.
Iraqis throughout the country were growing increasingly
frustrated with foreign interference, notably from Iraq's neighbors. They
singled out Saudi Arabia and Iran as the biggest culprits, but noted that a
"mental revolution" was underway among Iraqi youth against foreign
agendas seeking to undermine the country's stability, pointing to such trends in
Anbar against the Saudis, Najaf against the Iranians, and Mosul against the
Turks.
Iran abuses Iranian Red Cresent to send agents and weapons overseas.
Iran has obtained sophisticated missiles from North Korea capable of hitting Moscow and Western Europe [and by inference any Middle East Country].
Iran has been attempting to purchase five tons of carbon fiber for Iran's solid propellant ballistic missile program from Yoon Networks Shanghai Company, a China-based firm operated by a South Korean individual.
"Iranians are not stupid," Adams said repeatedly. "They follow all the issues closely, even if they at times misread the signals."
Iran did not believe the threat of US military action against them was realistic. It saw the US as a "tough, determined adversary that can be manipulated and wounded".
"Iranians are obsessed with the west and this obsession at times blinds them to their interests,"
Iran: An economically dependent and politically subservient Iraq would foster greater strategic depth for Tehran. Iranian president Ahmadinejad has referred to Iraq in recent press statements as "a Shia base" confronting the broader menace perpetrated by those opposed to Iraq's identity and stability
'Axis of Evil' may have been more accurate than many believed. Documents reveal that North Korea and Iran have indeed been sharing weapons technology for years
WikiLeaks paint a picture of corruption in Afghanistan at every level of government and society. [Maybe this is business as usual in the Middle East??]
Afghan President Hamid Karzai is pretty much useless as an ally
Afghan Prime Minister Hamad bin Jassim Al Thani said putting economic pressure on Iran by targeting its oil revenues is the best way to get Tehran to rethink its quest for nuclear weapons. For the sanctions to work, it would be vital that Russia and other countries bordering Iran implement them fully.Afghan Prime Minister Hamad said Simply put, "Hamas does not trust Egypt and the Quartet enterprise. "He noted that since its inception the Quartet has been anti-Hamas and aligned with the interests of Abu Mazen, Egypt and Jordan. These partners of the Quartet, are the very partners who have not delivered a Palestinian-Israeli agreement.
Afghan Prime Minister Hamad returned to his theme that "peace brokers" act in their own self-interest that President Mubarak of Egypt is thinking about how his son can take his place and how to stave off the growing strength of the Muslim Brotherhood. The Egyptian government has jailed 10,000 Muslim Brotherhood members without bringing court cases against them. The Egyptian "people blame America" now for their plight. The shift in mood on the ground is "mostly because of Mubarak and his close ties" to the United States. His only utility to the U.S. is brokering peace between Palestinians and Israelis, so he has no interest in taking himself out of the one game he has.
Afghan Prime Minister Hamad said as for Qatar, "We want to help Abu Mazen and the Palestinians".The short-term needs of Palestinians in Gaza are acute. We need to broker a quick reconciliation between Hamas and Fatah and move forward quickly on rebuilding Gaza.
Afghan: leaders are not interested in reform but rather their own political interests and alliances in Parliament.
Afghan: In Kandahar, some police are starting to at least be able to read license plates when investigating cases; and in a recent customs officer training, the officers at least acknowledged corruption exists and that it's wrong, which he said is not the case in many third world countries. [This is after nine years of training?]
Afghans will not support a dominant international role, and that if we dig ourselves deeper into Afghan politics, we'll entrench ourselves deeper into the country with fewer options. The issue "makes my blood boil," as he described the Canadian view that the international community must stand up for the silent majority or be blamed for letting Karzai and his family establish across the country the system of patronage and control that exists in Kandahar.
Afghan: Ahmed Waii Karzai in Kandahar, is corrupt and has a network of political clans that use state institutions to protect and enable licit and illicit enterprises. He is not popular with the people and is raising his own army to project his interests.
Afagan: threats have been made "including possible law enforcement
actions against three prominent malign actors in southern Afghanistan, Abdul
Razziq, Ahmed Wali Karzai, Asadullah Sherzad" but no action has been taken.
They appear not to understand the level of our knowledge of their
activities, and that the coalition views many of their activities as malign,
particularly relating to his influence over the police.
Afagan MP's and Religious scholars are on the Iranian payroll.
UAE said they are "46 seconds from Iran as measured by the flight time of
a ballistic missile". "Iran is a 'existential threat' to the
UAE and was concerned about getting caught in the cross fire if Iran is
provoked by the US or Israel."
UAE suggested the US send in ground forces if air force strikes
were not enough to 'take out' Iranian nuclear targets"
UAE however says "Iran is a hugh problem that goes far
beyond nuclear capabilities." "Iranian support for terrorism is broader
than just Hamas and Hezbollah. Iran has influence in Afghanistan,
Yemen, Kuwait, Bahrain, the eastern province of Saudi Arabia and Africa".
UAE: Iran-China trade relationship reached $50 billion last
year. UAE expressed a willingness to expand its energy ties with
China. UAE is described as a "strategic gap" that
militants can exploit
Kuwait: Al-Qaeda and other groups continued to
"exploit Kuwait both as a source of funds and as a key transit point",
partly because it remains the sole Gulf Co-operation Council (GCC) country that
has not criminalized terrorist financing,
Oman: Sultan Qaboos said Iran’s "charm
offensive" in the GCC had succeeded in lessening suspicions of some
officials about the true intentions of Iranian policies. Oman: is awareness of Iran's deceptive tactics and
expansionist ideological desires in the region.
Oman: Regarding claims that some rulers in the region
wanted to keep their people uneducated in order to more easily control them, the
Sultan explained that this strategy could easily backfire as it also left the
populace more susceptible to influence by extremists, such as the Muslim
Brotherhood. Former Egyptian president and pan-Arabist leader Gamal Abdal
Nasser, the Sultan said, had "set the region back" by being
"anti-everything" and engaging in vitriolic rhetoric designed to keep
the masses ignorant.
Oman: said Iranian meddling abroad was "almost a
game" to the regime in Tehran, and said that Iran's leaders would have to
stop this practice if Iran wanted to "join the world as a noble
country."
Oman: The Sultan commented that the
Iranians are "not fools," and claimed that Tehran realized there are
"certain lines it cannot cross" (i.e., direct confrontation with the
U.S.). Regarding GCC relations with the Iranian government, he stated,
"Iran is a big country with muscles and we must deal with it." He
continued that Iran's "charm offensive" in the region had achieved a
degree of success as some GCC authorities (he did not mention names) were now
less suspicious of Iranian intentions. The Sultan added, laughing, that "I
must say that as long as (the U.S.) is on the horizon, we have nothing to
fear."
Oman: Iranian dependence on imports of refined fuel, the
Sultan described Oman's efforts to obtain more natural gas to fuel growing
domestic power needs and large-scale industrial projects. Oman had committed too
much of its limited gas production to long-term liquefied natural gas (LNG)
export contracts. Oman hoped that
new gas fields would be found in the Gulf of Oman to help ease the country's
natural gas shortage. India's
Reliance Industries was currently exploring a deepwater oil and gas block in
this body of water, but had made no significant discoveries yet. Qatar would
begin supplying gas to Oman by 2013
Qatar refused a US request to stop al-Jazeera giving so
much airtime to Osama bin Laden and other anti-American figures, saying:
"Parliamentary life requires you to have a free and credible media, and
that is what we are trying to do.
Qatar is using the Arabic news channel al-jazeera as a
bargaining chip in foreign policy negotiations by adapting its coverage to suit
other foreign leaders and offering to cease critical transmissions in exchange
for major concessions
Jordan: The metaphor most commonly deployed by Jordanian
officials when discussing Iran is of an octopus whose yenticles reach out
insidiously to manipulate, foment, and undermine the best laid plans of the West
and regional moderates. Iran's tentacles include its allies Qatar and
Syria, Hizballah in Lebanon, Hamas in the Palestian territories, an Iraqi
government some times seen as supplicant to Tehran, and Shia communities
throughout the region.
Jordanian officials doubt dialogue with US will convince Iran to
withdraw its 'tentacles' they believe they can be severed if Iran is deprived of
hot-button issues that make it a hero to many on the Arab street, such as its
champing of the Palestinian cause. [What Palestinian fail to realize is if
Israel is hit with nuclear missiles, Palestinian gets the fallout and radio
active land is useless for generations.]
Jordan's leaders believe that US engagement of Iran would
reward regional hardliners while undermining Arab moderates - without convincing
Iran to cease its support for terrorism, end its nuclear program or drop its
hegemonic aspirations.
Jordan's leaders believe such engagement would reward regional hardliners
while undermining Arab moderates - without convincing Iran to cease its
support for terrorism, end its nuclear program or drop its hegemonic
aspirations. [Hegemonic
= masculinity attributes including aggressiveness, strength, drive, ambition,
and self-reliance, which they argue are encouraged in males but discouraged in
females in contemporary Western society] [It's noteworthy to put this in
perspective it doesn't differ much from American 'Manifest Destiny' of the
past which really says 'might is right'] Yemen: president, Ali Abdullah Saleh warns Yemen is on
the brink of becoming "worse than Somalia".
Yemen: president, Saleh said
"We will offer the land in Aden and you and the Saudis will provide the
funding," for the Guantánamo Bay prisoners.
He added it would be ready 90 days after receipt of the $11m required for
construction. Yemen: The US
had produced "only words but no solutions" to the terrorism issue in
Yemen and demanded more funds and equipment, despite Washington spending $115m (£73m)
equipping Yemen's counter-terrorism forces since 2002. Yemen: president, Ali Abdullah Saleh described Americans
as "hot-blooded and hasty when you need us" but "cold-blooded and
British when we need you".
Syria shows a "stark ignorance" towards the rest of the world.
Bahrain's King Hamod Ibn Isa al Khalifa said Arab States must do more to stop
Iran's nuclear program. King Hamad pointed to Iran as the source of
much of the trouble in both Iraq and Afghanistan. He argued forcefully for
taking action to terminate their nuclear program, 'by whatever means
necessary'.
"That program must be stopped," he said. "The danger of letting
it go on is greater than the danger of stopping it."
Israel can't afford to be wrong about Iran. Iran is in the position of
wanting to pay only a minimum cost for its
current program. It does not want to be North Korea or what Iraq was before
2003. Iran intends to keep resolutions and sanctions at a certain manageable
level and continue to produce low enriched uranium until there is enough for
several bombs. "Mongolia" Yadlin stated that Iran could
decide to produce a bomb by 2010, but Iran is waiting for the right time in
the future and that there are some who will always doubt it despite the
evidence.
Israel June 2009 estimated a window between 6 and 18 months from now in which stopping Iran
from acquiring nuclear weapons might still be viable. After that, he said, any
military solution would result in unacceptable collateral damage. He also
expressed concern that should Iran develop nuclear capabilities, other rogue
states and/or terrorist groups would not be far behind.
China and the US have the same objectives about Iran but China believes
peaceful negations would achieve more meaningful results than sanctions.
US diplomats describe a world of sex, drugs and rock'n'roll behind the
official pieties of Saudi Arabian royalty.
Liquor and prostitutes were present in abundance at a 2009 party.
"Though not witnessed directly at this event, cocaine and hashish
use is common in these social circles."
More than 150 Saudi men and women, most in their 20s and 30s, were at
the party. The patronage of royalty meant the feared religious police are kept
a distance. [this is no surprise as its common among most Islamic
cultures, private life is independent from public life]
Iraq, Najaf: December 2009;
Iraqis throughout the country were growing increasingly frustrated with
foreign interference, notably from Iraq's neighbors. He singled out Saudi
Arabia and Iran as the biggest culprits, but noted that a "mental
revolution" was underway among Iraqi youth against foreign agendas
seeking to undermine the country's stability, pointing to such trends in Anbar
against the Saudis, Najaf against the Iranians, and Mosul against the Turks.
France: September 2009, Public opinion in France is opposed to the war
in Afghanistan, the situation here is much calmer than in the UK,
Germany, or Italy.
US June 2009; Energy firm Chevron (a California-based energy firm)
negotiated with Tehran about developing an Iraq-Iran cross-border oilfield, (Majnoon
oilfield which is one of the richest in the world, near Basra and the Iranian
border) in spite of tight US sanctions, according to the Iraqi prime minister
Nouri al-Maliki in leaked diplomatic cables. "US persons may not trade in
Iranian oil or petroleum products refined in Iran, nor may they finance such
trading. Similarly, US persons may not perform services, including financing
services, or supply goods or technology that would benefit the Iranian oil
industry." December
2009; “Majnoon was awarded to a consortium led by Royal Dutch Shell and
Malaysia's Petronas." So much
for sanctions, oil reigns?
Eritrea just north of Ethiopia; Prisoners including children are
routinely tortured in massively overcrowded prisons. Conditions are appalling,
with prisoners unable to lie down or sit and deprived of water until they are
unable to speak. A politician secretly asked for Americans' help but the
US ambassador responded that change must come from within.
Eritrea an impoverished, mostly friendless country located at the wrong
end of the Red Sea, has become synonymous with trouble-making in the Horn of
Africa region since it wrested independence from Ethiopia in 1991 after a
bitter 30-year war.
Tunisia: July 2009, Zine
el Abidine Ben Ali and his wife, Leila Trabelsi.
They tolerate no advice or criticism, whether domestic or
international. Increasingly, they rely on the police for control and focus on
preserving power. Leila Trabelsi
and her family, in private, regime opponents mock her; even those close to the
government express dismay at her reported behavior.
Corruption in the inner circle is growing. Many Tunisians are
frustrated by the lack of political freedom and angered by First Family
corruption, high unemployment and regional inequities. Tunisia is a police state, with little freedom of expression or
association, and serious human rights problems.
Libya: Muammar al-Qaddafi (Gadhahi) b-1942 Sirte, Libya deems himself the only
worldwide leader, the commander of the revolution, the dean of Arab leaders,
the head of the African Union and king of the kings of Africa. He refers
to himself as being the sheikh of the tribes, the president of the Sahel-Saharan
states, the commander of the International Islamic People Command, the Imam of
the Muslims and the creator of the Green Book, which inspired evolution and
humanity. He is quite mad as demonstrated in the following quotes:

embarrassment of having private exchanges with American interlocutors enter

Egypt: More than a mere virtual communications tool, the Egyptian
Internet has become a mobilization and dissension platform. Although website
blocking remains limited, authorities are striving to regain control over
bloggers who are more and more organized, despite all the harassment and
arrests.
Egypt's four primary Internet providers – Link Egypt, Vodafone/Raya,
Telecom Egypt, Etisalat Misr – all stopped moving data in and out of the
country at 12:34 a.m. local time, January 28, 2011, according to a network
security firm monitoring the traffic.
Iran: one of cyber-censorship’s record-holding countries, has stepped
up its crackdown and online surveillance since the protests over the disputed
presidential reelection of Mahmoud Ahmadinejad on June 12, 2009. The regime is
demonizing the new media, which it is accusing of serving foreign interest.
While a dozen citizens are serving out their terms in Evin Prison, bold
Internet users are continuing to mobilize. Article 18 provides for a
prison term of up to two years and a fine for anyone found guilty of
“disseminating false information likely to agitate public opinion.“
Iran applies one of the world’s strictest filtering policies, which have
been tightened even more since June 2009. To date, authorities claim to have
blocked hundreds of thousands of sites.
Iran: jammed the BBC's Persian TV Service and Britain is looking for ways to
limit Iranian State broadcasters in UK.
Syria: is reinforcing its censorship of troublesome topics on the
Web and tracking citizens who dare to express themselves freely on it. As a
result, social networks have been particularly targeted by omnipresent
surveillance. The promised technological improvements are slow to materialize.
The authorities’ distrust of the potential for dissident online mobilization
may be playing a role in this delay.
Bahreign: Bahrain is experiencing one of the region’s highest
Internet penetration rates. The democratization process has been losing
momentum, which has had a negative impact on freedom of expression on the Web.
The authorities have adopted the course of a massive filtering campaign, but
the country’s citizens are proving to be inventive when it comes to
circumventing censorship and are mobilizing to defend their rights.
Uzbekistan: In this country deprived of independent media
outlets, the authorities impose a very strict Internet censorship, while
refusing to admit it publicly. Website filtering, sanctions and intimidations
are used against potential critics of the regime. Citizens have learned to
practice self-censorship
Lebanon's Al-Akhbar, a leftist and pro-Hizbullah paper, pulled off
quite a trick: it somehow obtained unauthorized leaks from the WikiLeaks
cache, posting 250 US cables from eight Arab countries on its website – only
to find that it was cyber-attacked (and replaced by a shimmering pink Saudi
girl chat room) when it published one of two devastatingly frank documents
about President Ben Ali of Tunisia, who reinforced his country's reputation as
the most internet-unfriendly in the region. "This is a professional
job," said publisher Hassan Khalil, "not the work of some geek
sitting in his bedroom."
Morocco banned the British Guardian and Spain's El Pais along with Al-Quds
Al-Arabi, the independent London-based pan-Arab daily which has been following
up on the stories of WikiLeaks from the start.
Tunisia has blocked the website of a Lebanese newspaper that published
US cables released by WikiLeaks describing high-level corruption, a sclerotic
regime, and deep hatred of President Zine el Abidine Ben Ali's wife and her
family.

FREEDOM-CENSORSHIP-SECRECY North Korea:
In the world’s most hermetic country, the large majority of the population
is not even aware that the Internet exists. An extremely limited Intranet has
been created, but few can access it. The network is used by Kim Jong-il and a
few senior officials for their personal enjoyment and to help spread the
regime’s propaganda to foreign countries. The only glimmer of hope: the
communications black market on the North Korean-Chinese border. South Korea:
Close to 90% of South Korean households have Web access via the world’s
best network infrastructure. However, concerned about maintaining order in a
period of social unrest, the government has been attempting to strengthen
censorship by resorting to excessive means and a liberticidal legislative
arsenal that is inducing citizens to practice self-censorship – all that in
the name of the fight against dissemination of “false information.” Burma: Two
high-ranking government officials sentenced to death for having e-mailed
documents abroad: Net censorship is a serious matter in Burma. Massive
filtering of websites and extensive slowdowns during times of unrest are daily
occurrences for the country’s Internet users. The Military Junta considers
citizens to be enemies of the State. The legislation governing Internet use
– the Electronic Act – is one of the most liberticidal laws in the world. Australia:
Under the guise of fighting child pornography, the government wants to set up
a filtering system never before seen in a democracy. The State of South
Australia has passed a law prohibiting online anonymity in an electoral
context. Telecommunications Minister Stephen Conroy reaffirmed, on
December 15, 2009, that the government plans to call for a vote on a bill that
would impose mandatory filtering of what it considers “inappropriate”
websites. The decision to block access to a website would not be made by a
judge, but by a government agency, the Australian Communications and Media
Authority (ACMA). Viet Nam: As
the 2011 Communist Party Congress draws nearer, the regime is muffling
dissident views on the Internet, and its first target is critics of the
country’s policy toward China. In the last ten years, the Internet’s
growth has soared, as has the country’s economic integration. The Web has
been a great success with Vietnam’s young population. In November 2009, the
social network Face book boasted a million users, as compared to only
50,000 early in that year. Thai royal family is protected by the country's lese
majesty laws, making it an offence to insult the monarchy. ------------------------------------------------ INDIA/PAKISTAN CONCERNS/ISSUES THE PLAYERS: India, President of the Republic Pratibha Devisingh Patil but

accused of being a front for Lashkar-e-Taiba, used a Saudi-based front company
to fund its activities in 2005. India is perceived as the primary threat to Pakistani thus

Pakistan. Four groups are singled out: the Afghan Taliban, its allied
Haqqani and Hekmatyar networks on the western Afghan frontier, and
Lashkar-e-Taiba on the eastern border with India. Some ISI officials

Mr. Karzai has become impervious to outside criticism, according to

The power wielded by his relatives in Kandahar is already well-known

particular, describing a former Afghan vice-president arriving in the United
Arab Emirates with $52-million in cash last year, has received particular
attention. US officials had evidence of widespread torture by Indian police and
security forces and were secretly briefed by Red Cross staff about the
systematic abuse of detainees in Kashmir, according to leaked diplomatic cables
of 2005. Other cables show that as
recently as 2007 American diplomats were concerned about widespread human rights
abuses by Indian security forces, who they said relied on torture for
confessions. India: The ICRC (International Committee of the Red Cross) concluded
that India "condones torture" and that the torture victims were
civilians as militants were routinely killed. Tibet: The Dalai Lama has
told US officials that combating climate change is more urgent than finding a
political solution in Tibet, which "can wait five to 10 years". -----------------------------------------------

against Ms. Ny. Mr. Assange b-1971 had offered to answer questions from the

Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has lost touch

THE COMMENTS: Russia is a corrupt, autocratic kleptocracy centered on the leadership
of Vladimie Putin, in which officials, oligarchs and organized crime are bound
together to create a 'Virtual Mafa State'. Russians are accused of arms trafficking, money
laundering, personal enrichment, protection for gangsters, extortion and
kickbacks, suitcases full of money and secret offshore bank accounts in
Cyprus: the cables paint a bleak picture of a political system in which
bribery alone totals an estimated $300bn a year, and in which it is often hard
to distinguish between the activities of the government and organized crime. Russian: Kremlin's hostile measures against Georgia included
missile attacks, murder plots and "a host of smaller-scale actions.
Russian secret services also ran a disinformation campaign against Georgia's
pro-American, pro-Nato president, Mikheil Saakashvili, claiming he suffered
from "paranoid dysfunction" Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin is said to have close ties with
Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi. Russia have concluded their interests are served by keeping
the west "tied down in an Afghanistan quagmire" and by sustaining
the status quo in Iran. They
elaborated that a solution that thwarts Iran's nuclear weapons ambitions and
restores Iran as a normal member of the international community could
undermine Russian regional and energy interests. Russian under-investment in energy extraction infrastructure
was such that Russia would not be able to meet European demand in four or five
years. This created an opportunity
for Russia to have even more leverage over a Europe that has not prepared to
diversify its energy supplies. Russian legal editor David R. Hoffman argues for transparency
and a free press: And we see many right-wing commentators demanding that
Assange b-1971 be hunted down, with some even calling for his murder, on the grounds
that he may have endangered lives by releasing confidential government
documents. It is the American people who should be outraged that its
government has transformed a nation with a reputation for freedom, justice,
tolerance and respect for human rights into a backwater that revels in its
criminality, cover-ups, injustices and hypocrisies. Russia is accused of transshipment of ballistic
missile components from North Korea to Iran via Beijing and complained that at
least 10 similar missile-related deliveries had been allowed to proceed
unhindered. USA: Washington and its western allies have for the
first time since the end of the cold war drawn up classified military plans to
defend the most vulnerable parts of eastern Europe against Russian threats.
Nine NATO divisions – US, British, German, and Polish – have been

The decision to draft contingency plans for Estonia, Latvia and
Lithuania was taken secretly earlier this year at the urging of the US and

THE COMMENTS: China perceives the U.S.A. as "closed"
to Chinese and Chinese companies. Chinese businesspersons looking at
investment opportunities around the globe are confused and intimidated by the
different investment regulations and promotional activities in the fifty U.S.
states. China says U.S.A. visa regulations and,
particularly in contrasting them with those of our competitors in Japan and
Europe, perceive them as more restrictive than they actually are, even seeing
them as "hostile" to Chinese travelers
Hillary Clinton ordered US diplomats to spy on UN Secretary General, Ban

USA: A year
ago Mrs. Clinton made a major speech about Internet freedom, interpreted as a
rebuke to China’s cyberattack on Google. “Even in authoritarian
countries,” she said, “information networks are helping people to discover
new facts and making governments more accountable.” Now
“that Clinton speech reads like a satirical masterpiece.” USA Secretary
of State Hillary Diane Rodham Clinton
has less tact when dealing with some developing countries.
Clinton asked diplomats a series of questions in December last
year which could infuriate President Kirchner and sabotage a recent
rapprochement between Argentina and America.
She asked how the first lady-turned President was managing "her
nerves and anxiety" in a blunt tone. As one diplomat said This is nothing.

A little-known office of the Treasury Department has made nearly 10,000

made clear he was not amused by a US diplomat describing him as
"Batman" and President Dmitry as
"Robin". Russian Prime Minister Valademir Putin says "the

the State Department had prohibited its staff from accessing WikiLeaks, but now
we learn that it went as far as to warn prospective student interns to
"NOT post links to these documents nor make comments on social media

Rallies will be staged in 21 US cities this week calling for the release of Bradley Manning, the soldier
accused of leaking military secrets to the public.
Manning allegedly passed on the video known as "collateral
murder" that showed American troops shooting civilians from a helicopter
in Iraq in July 2007. The dead included two employees of the Reuters news agency.
, a
professor at the Thomas Jefferson School of Law, argues that if Manning did what
he is accused of doing, he should be honoured as a hero for exposing war crimes.

Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration and NASA, employees were told not to

was likely because it casts global warming in a bad light] They
are deleting any reference to WikiLeaks. That
doesn’t make sense when much of the information is already freely available
from newspapers such as The New York Times and The Guardian. “The government
has locked itself into a contradictory position that threatens mission
performance,”. The
Congressional Research Service, which is part of the Library, may be left
unable to compete with other analysts as a result of their inability to read

have to rule on the issue of balancing national security and freedom of speach
due to the WikeLeaks posting a cache of USA military records about the Afghan

between national security and free speech is "a constant struggle in this
society, between our security needs and our first amendment rights, and one that
has existed throughout our history. "Sotomayor
compared the issue with the debate over allowing publication of the Pentagon

objections of the Pentagon.
USA: Sen.

Wikileaks just adds to a store of knowledge that we already have or if it
represents something new. But the idea that it’s a bad thing to know more
about the how the governments that act in our names actually behave is laughable, and
the idea that impeding their ability to act secretly prevents them from
advancing the cause of justice and human rights, it seems to me, is utterly
without merit.
The Library of Congress has blocked access to the WikiLeaks

SOUTH/CENTRAL AMERICAN CONCERNS/ISSUES
THE PLAYERS:
Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez is "crazy" and said that even
Brazil wasn't able to support him anymore. Brazil Brazil President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva has
ambitions of becoming a world power in the coming decades and believes the key
is through the acquisition of certain technological and military autonomy. Colombian president Álvaro Uribe Haiti President Preval
Mexico President Felipe
Calderon is running out of time in the battle against organized crime.
THE COMMENTS:
Mexico 7,700 drug related homicides occurred in 2009
and only 2% of those arrested were ever charged. The army was doing the
policing work but were not trained in evidence collection. Mexico insisted that as long as the US remained the
biggest consumer of drugs in the world, the terror wrought by the drug cartels
in Mexico would continue. Mexico: The USA has lost faith in Mexico's ability to
win the drug war. Regions of Mexico are effectively controlled by
organized crime. In the past 4 years 34,612 people have been killed by
the drug wars. Mexico: In the past 4 years to 2010 about 28,000 people
have been killed in the drug war. Brazil hosts over 420 French companies which employ
approximately 400,000 people. French exports totaled over $5 billion and
Brazilian exports to France over $6 billion in 2008. Brazil contends that it cannot accept Guantanamo migrants because it is
illegal to designate someone not on Brazilian soil a refugee. Brazil's president Lula da Silva and others of central and South
America believe the United States government is the greatest threat to world
peace and security today. It is
clear that any information which sheds light on US "diplomacy" is
more than useful. It has the
potential to help save millions of human lives.
South America's progressive governments have strongly challenged US
foreign policy in the region and the world, with some of them regularly using
words like imperialism and empire as synonyms for Washington Colombian president Álvaro Uribe and Venezuela President

The summit poorly conceived, inadequately managed and badly executed
for allowing Venezuela and its leftist allies to derail proceedings. Haiti President Preval did attend the Mexican conference

economic problems have contributed to a decline in Chavez's popularity, which
is an important reason Chavez agreed to a devaluation that would substantially
increase government revenues and permit massive spending prior to the
September legislative elections. Chavez is betting that short term measures
can delay the long term consequences of his ill-conceived policies
Venezuela: February 2010; The government is extremely upset with the failure of
international companies to register bids for offshore gas fields.
President Chavez plans to visit Russia, China and Japan to cultivate interest.
Venezuela's problems February 2010, were increasingly intractable,
and that the internal domestic problems they were generating were pushing
Chavez toward more authoritarianism and repression. Italy's Eni stands to become possibly the second
largest international oil company operating in Venezuela as a result of deals
signed at the end of January 2010, according to Italian Ambassador Luigi
Maccotta. It has agreed to develop the extra heavy crude Junin 5 block, to
build an upgrader and a 1,000 MW power plant,
and to transfer proprietary heavy oil technology to the Bolivarian Republic of
Venezuela. Chevez had to take Italy's terms and conditions or "take
it or leave it, I can get on my plane and move on". [Keep in mind Italy has
close ties with Russia and they could expropriate Eni.] Cuba debate, had cast a long

Saudi Arabia: it is still one of the most repressive countries with
regard to the Internet. Bloggers are confronting the traditional forces

NORTH KOREAN/CHINA CONCERNS/ISSUES;
North Korean President Kim Jong-iI is a fruitcake. He has a reputation
among the Chinese for being 'quite a good drinker' of alcohol.
Chinese
ambassador warned that North Korean nuclear activity was "a threat to the
whole world's security". It
is very troublesome.
Chinese
officials assessed that it could cope with an influx of 300,000 North Koreans
in the event of serious instability, but might need to use the military to
seal the border. It might also ask
other countries for help.
China says North Korea has
already collapsed economically and will collapse politically when Kim Jong-il
dies. China would not be able to stop North Korea's collapse following
the death of Kim Jong-iI.
China, Beijing had
"much less influence than most people believe".
But Chinese public opinion was increasingly critical of the North's
behavior. However China wants to

China: continues to intensify Web censorship, faced with an
increasingly forceful online community. The much-vaunted promises made by
organizers at the open ceremonies of the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games have
proven to be mere illusions for the world’s biggest citizen prison. Expanded
dissemination of propaganda, generalized surveillance and crackdowns on
Charter 08 signatories are commonplace on what has become the Chinese Intranet
– with significant consequences for trade. According to the
authorities, China has the world’s largest Internet user population: 380
million. Its censorship system is one of the most technologically advanced in
existence. The “Electronic Great Wall” of China
blocks tens of thousands of websites by combining URL filtering with the
censoring of keywords ranging from “Tiananmen” and “Dalai Lama” to
“democracy” and “human rights.”

RUSSIAN/BALTIC CONCERNS/ISSUES
Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin is described as an
"alpha-dog,"
Italian President Berlusconi a
weak leader and
Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin have 'intimate ties'; as well as various
secret business arrangements
Russian: A cyber-attack on Estonia in 2007 was believed to have
originated in Russia, and the Kremlin invaded Georgia a year later.
Russia: Dmitry
Medvedev, despite being President of the Russian Federation, is described as
having to get all his decisions approved by former President and current Prime
Minister Vladimir Putin: who remains the most powerful force in the country
Russia: After the takeover by the Kremlin of the audiovisual
media early in the Putin era, the Internet became the freest space for
discussion and information-sharing in Russia. Yet its dependence is threatened
by blogger arrests and prosecutions, and the blocking of independent websites
labeled as “extremist.” The Web has also become a first-rate sphere of
activity for government propaganda and could become a political control
mechanism.
CANADIAN CONCERNS/ISSUES
Canadian
Prime Minister Stephen Harper is credited with taking it on the chin and pressing ahead
with common-sense measures, despite court challenges and political knocks from
the Liberals, NDP and PQ.
[Canadian Security Intelligence Service (CSIS) is being hobbled by the
judicial system which needs to be rationalized and controlled by the Senate.
The judicial system makes laws and has often basically replaced parliament.]
Iran’s proxy militia – Lebanon-based Hezbollah – was said to be
present in Canada and Mr. Judd is said to have remarked CSIS is “vigorously
harassing” known Hezbollah members.
“homegrown” al-Qaeda
terrorism – characterizing it as “the recruitment of a small number of
Canadian ‘wannabes’ of Pakistani origin for mostly overseas operations.”
Afghan President Hamid Karzai is pretty much useless as an ally
Canada “is working strenuously to improve the environmental impact of
production from the oil sands.” “In our view, our goal should be to
encourage, where we can, a process that is already making fitful progress, the
'greening' of the oil sands," "Should we opt instead to
support policies that damage the market for the oil sands and raise the cost
of capital here, we should at least do so knowingly, well aware that, while
this may seem to advance our environmental interests, it will harm our energy
security."
AMERICAN CONCERNS/ISSUES
TheNorth Korea:
Chinese
continue to signal intense displeasure with U.S. positions on issues from
the Dalai Lama to Taiwan arms sales and Internet freedom, which they then cite
as reasons why they may not cooperate with the U.S. on other issues.
[This could be the reason the USA is clamping down on internet freedom]
USA Secretary
of State Clinton lacked tact
and was rude. Americans thinks President Kirchner's government
"to be extremely thin-skinned and intolerant of perceived criticism”.
USA:
All told, an estimated 2,405
Americans have been shot and killed since Tucson, adding to the grim
toll of 400,000 felled by guns since Martin Luther King Jr. and Robert
F. Kennedy were assassinated in 1968. (The estimate of gun murders and
accidental deaths is based on Centers for Disease Control and
Prevention data.)
Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad sees Iraq, Afghanistan, and the U.S.
economy are the three main problems.
Saudi
Arabia's King said "thank God for bringing Obama to the

his safety." [a prophet is not recognized in his own Country]
Mohammad Reza Sadeqinia , an Iranian national, was arrested in
California on charges of soliciting murder after attempted to hire a hit
man to kill Iranian-American broadcaster Jamshid Sharmahd, an outspoken critic
of the Iranian regime. Sadeqinia claimed he was working on behalf of
Iranian intelligence.
German newspapers say “the already damaged reputation of the United
States will only be further tattered with Assange’s new martyr
status.” Mr. Assange is being hounded, the paper said, “even though
no one can explain what crimes Assange allegedly committed with the
publication of the secret documents, or why publication by WikiLeaks was an
offense, and in The New York Times, it was not.”
Australia: "Granted that in western political circles, Mr Assange
b-1971 is not flavour of the month, but what he is doing in my opinion, and
in the opinion of many here and abroad, is vitally necessary to expose
American foreign policy failures and potential war crimes and crimes against
humanity--not for the purpose of damaging US interests but to make them
accountable.
I join with Professor Saul also in asking you Prime Minister why has there
been no public complaint to the US about both Secretaries of State Condaleeza
Rice and Hillary Clinton being in major breach of International law ie UN
Covenants, by making orders to spy on UN personnel, including the Secretary
General, to include theft of their credit card details and communication
passwords. Perhaps the Attorney General should investigate this clear prima
facie evidence of crime (likely against Australian diplomats as well), rather
than he attempts to prosecute the messenger of those crimes.
While we have close and a good relationship with the US, there is no doubt
that US influence and power is declining. That we appear to be still
posturing, (given that declining power and a new paradigm of privately
enforced accountability) to the US on the issue of Wikileaks is, Prime
Minister, deeply disappointing".
By Peter Kemp, Solicitor of the Supreme Court of New South Wales,
Australia, on 2010-12-04
USA recent repressive censorship of the internet and news media is in

transparency and freedom to deteriorate.
Mexico: Pervasive, debilitating fear has infected even relatively safe
parts of the country.
Mexican armed forces are bureaucratic, parochial, outdated and unfit to
combat drug trafficking organizations.
Venezuelan: The French say unfortunately, President Hugo Chavez is taking one

FREEDOM-CENSORSHIP-SECRECY
Cuba: Despite a few improvements, Internet access actually remains beyond
the reach of most of the population because of its high cost and low
connection speeds. The regime, which maintains two parallel network, is now
taking aim at a small blogger community that is becoming increasingly active.

inviolable" the 1946 UN convention on privileges and immunities.
Hillary Clinton ordered US diplomats to spy on UN Secretary General, Ban Ki-Moon
and permanent Security Council Representatives from China, Russia, France and
UK. This is to include undersecretaries, heads if specialized agencies,
Chief Advisors and others. The CIA, FBI and US Secret Service were
included in the special reporting and collecting needs.
The 1961 Vienna convention on diplomatic relations, which covers the UN, also states that "the official correspondence of the mission shall be inviolable"
Washington is using its 11,500-strong foreign service to glean
highly sensitive information on both allies and enemies.
Turkey and the
United Arab Emirates, really want to buy Predator drones from the US.
[But there's a long waiting list]
2010 December 6: Wikigate leaks "The USA privately lobbied IPCC chairman Dr. Ratendra Parchauri as well as UK, EU, Agentina, Mali, Brazil and Uzbekistan to stop the appointment of Dr. Mostafa Jafaei of Iran as co-chairman of a key working group. It would significantly complicate the USA funding.
Wikileaks Show an attempt by Second World nations to siphon wealth and political power from First World nations, all in the name of Third World nations assumed to be "victims" of global warming. At the same time, the US and other First World nations tried to offer aid directly to Third World nations; (certainly a curious case of "better the devil you know" diplomacy.)
Bolivia's president Morales would "convoke the first 'People's World Conference on Climate Change and the Mother Earth' ... as a vehicle for raising his and Bolivia's international political stature, especially among sympathetic anti-globalization groups."
Bolivian delegate to the Copenhagen talks told US diplomats that "[Bolivia's] position is aimed at creating an alternative development model consistent with Morales's anti-capitalist philosophy."
Maldives' ambassador-designate to the US, Abdul Ghafoor Mohamed, told the US deputy climate change envoy, Jonathan Pershing, his country wanted "tangible assistance", saying other nations would then realize "the advantages to be gained by compliance" with the accord.
EU climate action commissioner, Connie Hedegaard, in Brussels, where she told him, according to a cable, "the AOSIS [Alliance of Small Island States] countries 'could be our best allies' given their need for financing".
Denmark: Connie
Hedegaard the European Commissioner for Climate Action raised another toxic
subject - whether the US aid would be all cash. She asked if the US would need
to do any "creative accounting", noting some countries such as Japan
and the UK wanted loan guarantees, not grants alone, included, a tactic she
opposed. Pershing said
"donors have to balance the political need to provide real financing with
the practical constraints of tight budgets", reported the Wikileaks
cable.
(If you have even a lick of common sense, there should be no doubt in your
mind about the true intentions of those now pushing climate change agendas.)
However most followers of the Climate Conferences agree the reasons behind
the Climate Conference is no longer Climate or saving the world, it's about an
Anti-Capitalist Philosophy.
Child labor is a major concern with 200 million being employed. The biggest offenders include Bangladesh, India, Nigeria, Pakistan, Chad, Democratic Republic of Congo, Ethiopia, Liberia, Burma, Somalia, Sudan and Zimbabwe.
FREEDOM-CENSORSHIP-SECRECY
Rwanda, Yemen and Syria have joined Burma and North Korea in the group of the
world’s most repressive countries towards journalists.
“We must salute the engines of press freedom, with Finland, Iceland,
Netherlands, Norway, Sweden and Switzerland at their head.
Brazil, Russia, India and China – may all be at a roughly
similar stage of economic development but the 2010 index highlights major
differences in the press freedom situation in these countries
The Philippines, Ukraine, Greece and Kyrgyzstan all fell sharply in this
year’s index. In the Philippines this was due to the massacre of around 30
journalists by a local baron, in Ukraine to the slow and steady deterioration
in press freedom since Viktor Yanukovych’s election as president in
February, in Greece to political unrest and physical attacks on several
journalists, and in Kyrgyzstan to the ethnic hatred campaign that accompanied
the political turmoil.

The leaders of Myanmar and Belarus, or Thailand and Russia, can now rightly say to us: "You went after WikiLeaks' domain name, their hosting provider, and even denied your citizens the ability to register protest through donations, all without a warrant and all targeting overseas entities, simply because you decided you don't like the site. If that's the way governments get to behave, we can live with that."

“Robert Mugabe President of Zimbabwe is a brilliant tactician and has long thrived on his ability to abruptly change the rules of the game, radicalize the political dynamic and force everyone else to react to his agenda. However, he is fundamentally hampered by several factors: his ego and belief in his own infallibility; his obsessive focus on the past as a justification for everything in the present and future; his deep ignorance on economic issues (coupled with the belief that his 18 doctorates give him the authority to suspend the laws of economics, including supply and demand); and his essentially short-term, tactical style.” Robert Mugabe could care less if his country starves to death. He’s a vicious thug who survives because he’s even more vicious than the other vicious thugs he surrounds himself with. And he knows as much about economics as Kim Jong-il does about democracy
France, November 30. 2010 Interpol placed Assange on its most-wanted list Tuesday after Sweden issued an arrest warrant against him as part of a drawn-out rape probe -- involving allegations he has denied. The Interpol "red notice" is likely to make international travel more difficult for him.
The American Congress has been blind sided with the censorship of the
Library of Congress of Wikigate information which is their primary tool for
information and differing opinions. The citizens of Massachusetts should
be up in arms that Lieberman is advocating censorship of the press and
publishers of America. First
Amendment to the Constitution protects WikiLeaks and publishers but the
so-called SHIELD Act (Securing Human Intelligence and Enforcing Lawful
Dissemination) directly censors publishers as proposed by Lieberman
The American Government is calling on any other company or organization that
is hosting Wikileaks to immediately terminate its relationship with them.
This would include more than 500 sites around the world.
Wikigate shows how Embassy dispatches show America
used spying, threats and promises of aid to get support for (Global Warming)
Copenhagen accord. The US diplomatic cables reveal how the US seeks dirt
on nations opposed to its approach to tackling global warming; how financial
and other aid is used by countries to gain political backing; how distrust,
broken promises and creative accounting dog negotiations; and how the US
mounted a secret global diplomatic offensive to overwhelm opposition to the
controversial "Copenhagen accord" the unofficial document that
emerged from the ruins of the Copenhagen climate change summit in 2009.
Negotiating a climate treaty is a high-stakes game, not just because of the
danger warming poses to civilization but also because re-engineering the
global economy to a low-carbon model will see the flow of billions of dollars
redirected.
An American commitment to help Saudi Arabia with its economic diversification efforts would :take the pressure off climate change negotiations:. Saudi Arabia are very eager to obtain carbon credits. President Obama in Copenhagen, is antagonistic and causes genuine fear in Saudi Arabia to end dependence on foreign oil. The UK and Japan want loan guarantees to support the US on climate change.
"In the face of a concerted attempt to shut him down and after a decade since 9/11 that has been characterised by manipulation of the media by the authorities, the information released by Wikileaks is a refreshing glimpse into an increasingly opaque world." The Frontline Club is near Paddington station in west London, a home for foreign correspondents and other journalists by Vaughn Smith, and home of Julian Assange.
US diplomats described Rudd, then Australia's prime minister, as a mistake-prone control freak with a tendency towards making "snap announcements without consulting other countries or within the Australian government"
Defence secretary Robert Gates showed what the US really thought about the arrest. When asked about it on a trip to Afghanistan yesterday he smirked, and said: "That sounds like good news to me".
WikiLeaks was attacked outside of due process and just run off the internet because the government has decided we don't like it, and that is a catastrophic loss for free speech.
Tunisia has blocked the website of a Lebanese newspaper that published US cables released by WikiLeaks describing high-level corruption, a sclerotic regime, and deep hatred of President Zine el Abidine Ben Ali's wife and her family
Tunisiaa tolerate no advice or criticism, whether domestic or international. Increasingly, they rely on the police for control and focus on preserving power. Corruption in the inner circle is growing.
2013
April 6: Stefan Lindskog, chairman of the Supreme Court of Sweden, speaking
on Wednesday at the University of Adelaide in Australia said that the
sex-crime allegations against Wikileaks founder Julian Assange are "a
mess", and praised him for leaking classified US documents.
He further suggested that the
sexual allegations are a ploy to get him to Sweden from where he would be
extradited to the U.SA. however he believes Sweden's extradition treaty with
the United States would not apply to Assange.
Lindskog praised Assange's campaign of publishing the classified information
through WikiLeaks.
"He'll be thought of as a person who made public some pieces of classified
information to the benefit of mankind,"
"It should never be a crime to make known [a] crime of a state,'' he added.
This is a great embracement to the British, Swedish and American Governments,
a pox upon their tents.
