Dear Ma:

Well I know I should have written sooner but I have been moving about to every place in England.

I spent my leave in London. I know I should have written to Grandma but I lost my kit bag with addresses, all my shirts and most of my personal equipment. Ma in your next letter I want you to send her address in case my kit does not arrive on my base. I had a very good time. London is such a big city and a very easy place to get lost. I visited a place that dad often referred to "Madame Tussauds Wax works. Everything is in life size and it is a real site to see. Of course a visit to a place like London, and person would have to have at least 10£. Of course money doesn’t last very long in a city. I met some very nice people in London and I am sure to return to see them. I also met a great number of English girls. I don’t know but it seems to me they all want to get married. The English girls are very much different than the Canadian girls. Of course you know that the females have the majority in England. But there is still the one and only in Canada "Mary". I am going to write Mary after I have finished this letter. I have never seen a girl in England that could half measure up to Mary.

Now in your next letter I want you to tell me all the news from home and also send some pictures. I wish I were allowed to take pictures over here because I have been to some very nice places. The only thing I can say I don’t care for is the meals. You folks over there don’t know how lucky you are. The rations over here don’t just take in food, but clothing, sweets, and positively everything and if it isn’t rationed they just haven’t got it.

I hope Ruth isn’t causing trouble, I don’t suppose Dad told you but I explained everything to him. You know that Dad can’t do very much about it. Now I must stop for there isn’t much to say but I want you to tell me all the news from home and about Mary.

Love Harry
