A message from
Lieutenant-Colonel
John Turner Commanding
Officer of 434 Squadron (the Bluenose Squadron and the "City
of Halifax" Squadron)
Unfortunately, 434
Sqn is in the process of standing down for the fourth time in its
59 year history. We had a close-out celebration and reunion on
22-24 Mar 02 (about 350 former and current Sqn members attended)
and deposited the Sqn Colours in Halifax's Cathedral Church of
All Saints on 28 Apr 02, where they will be displayed until a
future generation stands up the Sqn once again. We are currently
posting all Sqn members to various locations throughout Canada
and will close our doors on 15 Jul 02. I will forward your web
address to as many past and present Sqn members as I can. I know
they will be as moved and impressed as I was on viewing the site.
I also would like your permission to include a link to your site
on the 434 Sqn website which is currently being updated to
include displays from the recent close-out events
http://www.airforce.forces.gc.ca/14wing
Thank you and congratulations on a
tremendous tribute to one of our former heroes.
