Welcome to Gypsy's Page. This page is dedicated to my Rottweiler's past and present. I became involved in this breed 4 years ago. That is when I started my search for a Rottweiler puppy. I researched the breed and took out the paper and started calling the ads. One thing I did do right was to make sure that both parents had their hips x-rayed and at least had OFA certification. It took many calls and a few road trips before I found the puppy I wanted. Her name is Parksprings Gypsy CD. She was to be my foundation bitch and my show prospect. I showed Gypsy in conformation for two years before realizing that she just didn't have what it takes. I was still considering breeding her though so I had her hips X-rayed at 2 years of age and she came back OFA Good. In the mean time I had joined two Rottweiler Internet Lists, Rottie-L and Showrotts-L. Thanks to the excellent advise from all the members I came to realize that breeding Rottweiler's was not for me. There are so many Rottie's in rescue right now that I couldn't even conceive of bringing more puppies into this world. So I had Gypsy spayed and started her on her obedience career. We obtained her first obedience title - Companion Dog in her first three trials. We are currently working on her CDX. I find obedience work very rewarding and it has created quite a bond between us.

Two years ago I flew to Ontario to pick up another Rottweiler puppy and show prospect. Her name was Greythunder's Takin a Chance. She was the cutest little puppy and such a sweetie; her movement was just incredible. Unfortunately she wasn't meant to be. When I took Chance in for her Rabies shot I was informed by the Vet that she had Subaortic stenosis or SAS which is a heart defect that more and more Rottie lines are coming up with. Chance was with me for just six months but she sure found a special place in my heart. She is waiting for me at Rainbow Bridge

The advice I would give to any first time Rottweiler buyer is to go to a reputable breeder. You want to make sure that both the Sire and Dam have been certified for Hips, Elbows, Hearts and Eyes. The breeder should have the required papers from the OFA and be able to show them to you. If the breeder has not certified their dogs then my advice would be to find yourself another breeder. There are many reputable breeders out there; but then again there are probably more backyard breeders too. This breed is the second most popular breed right now and unfortunately this has encouraged many people to breed to try and make money. There are many rescue organizations out there that are overwhelmed with Rottweiler's right now. If you want a Rottweiler this may be just the place to go. Rottweiler's are a working breed and need to have obedience training and be worked. They are not the kind of dog to tie up in your backyard and just leave them alone. I've included some links to so very good Rottweiler sites, so feel free to check them out.
