This page is dedicated to my Dalmatian, Petrie. Also known as Daladors Peter Diopside. As long as I can remember I always wanted to own a Dalmatian. Seven and a half years ago I finally got my puppy. I was very fortunate to find a good breeder and I could not have asked for a better puppy. My mother loved him so much that she bought his litter sister and brother. I have always had dogs all my life, so I knew what it takes to train a puppy properly. I went out and bought a crate and Petrie would sleep in there when I was at work. He caught on to house training very fast, what a smart puppy he was.

Petrie just loved to go with me when I went riding. If my horse and I put on 5 miles, Petrie would put on at least 10. He would run in and out of the bush, or run ahead and check everything out. He is always so excited when I bring out the bridal he just goes nuts, jumps around and talks to me, as if he is saying oh good lets go. Two years ago Petrie started limping quite bad and had troubles getting up. So off to the vet we went. My vet took x-rays of his hips, elbows and shoulders; she also took some liquid from his bone. All the x-rays indicated was that he was starting to show signs of Arthritis. So we put him on steroids. Then I did some reading and found out that steroids can shorten a dog's life and cause many other problems. So I started my hunt for something else to put him on. My vet suggested Gycoflex; this is an all natural product. Well Petrie gets a pill twice a day, but I tell you what, he is just like a puppy again. I would highly recommend this product to anyone whose dog is arthritic. What a difference it makes.

It saddens me greatly to see what has been happening to this wonderful breed in the last few years. The movie 101 Dalmatians certainly has done much damage for this breed. It has made them so popular that it has encouraged backyard breeders to make a buck by selling puppies and breeding dogs twice a year. Now there are so many Dalmatians in rescue because people did not stop to think before they bought that cute puppy that it would grow up. Dalmatians require a lot of exercise and are pretty hyper if the do not get it. Also Dalmatians shed 365 days a year, they carry a deafness gene and they are subject to Urinary stones, so have to be fed a low protein diet. It makes me very angry that people do not research before they buy any breed of dog. If people only took the time to make sure that this was the breed for them, then maybe there would not be so many Dalmatians in rescue right now. My advice to anyone who has never had a Dalmatian before, please check with reputable breeders, do research, remember that this is a member of your family that you are responsible for the next 8 to 12 years. I've included some links below to rescue sites and other Dalmatian sites, go check them out before you buy that puppy, maybe it will enforce the commitment that is requires to own any dog.
