A division of Shoal Creek Wapiti

We are a family of elk farmers, and have been farming in Northern Alberta for over 20 years. In the past five years we have become involved in the elk industry, and are enjoying raising elk and promoting the elk industry.

Our herd of elk resides close to our home, (we can see them from our living room window) ranging on many acres of varied grassland. They are pampered with the best hay available in the winter, and with the best pasture we can provide in the summer. We also give them a balanced ration of minerals to keep them in the best of health. They are quiet and content - many eat out of our hands.

Our elk calve in May and June, when the grass is green and summer has arrived to our part of the country. When born, the calves are about 35 pounds (16 kg), but they grow quickly and by the end of summer they are almost as tall as their mothers.

Bull elk grow new antlers every year, and, in the wild, the antlers fall off in the early spring.  On our farm, we harvest the antler in the early summer while it is in the "velvet" stage.  The elk grow new antlers the following year.  Thus, Elk Velvet Antler is a renewable resource, and one that will be with us for many years to come.
