Paul's opinions on Beer

Take them for what they're worth. Everyone's got their own taste for beer so if you want to drop me a line on your opinions.... leave mail at bottom of page.

MMmmm Beer..... I love the stuff !! I started out brewing the typical style beer I USED to drink 22 years ago (American style) and I brewed it and I brewed it and kept on brewing it. Then I got bored, so I experimented, trying many different kits of all different styles. I acquired quite a taste for amber to dark beers and they are now my choice to brew. Eventually I ran out of different kits to try so that's when the proudest part of my brewing hobby began... Recipes. I jumped right in, both feet first, not wanting to copy others recipes. I knew if I made something great, that I'd invented it, not someone else, therefore giving me sole bragging rights to the brew. So I read, I listened, & I learned all I could....... and I made beer, good beer... the way I like my beer, and now I'm happy !! So try something different, experiment, because after all... this is your hobby, have fun with it.

A word about commercial beers

Ok this is where I might get myself into trouble with some of you but I like beer so I'll tell it like it is for me. Many homebrew stores will put down commercial beers and vice-versa. Well NOT ME... if I never had loved my Budwieser , Rickard's, and "My Goodness, My Guinness" for all those years I probably never would be brewing today. I will however say that I love my beer recipes because I have tailor made them to my taste and used only the ingredients I like. I love to go to English style pubs and order their different beers on tap and evaluate them. Everyone that homebrews still goes out and drinks commercial beer too so the two really go hand in hand. When I started homebrewing, I also started appreciating good commercial beers more. So don't worry... whether you're a proud homebrewer, or commercial brewer, it's beer and I love it !!!

Cheers ,

Paul
