PEDIGREE
July 1, 1995

Kayla was my choice pup (return) of Fila's litter. She has proven herself both in ring and in the whelping box.   Her first win as a senior pup was a Best of Winners for three points. Then, or course, the worst should happen... she was out playing and jumped over a fallen tree. I can still see her staggering. There had been a branch sticking up and it tore a hole into her body, just under her right arm pit. I rushed her to the vet, and she needed fourteen inside stitches. Two days later, she had a allergic reaction to the type of material that the vet had used to stitch her up. She was, and still is a very strong and healthy girl, so she healed beautifully.

I had her entered for the 1996 Alberta Boxer Specialty as well as the Western Boxer Specialty, both being held in conjunction with three all-breed shows. Kayla's injury occurred two weeks prior to the shows, and I was going to pull her. After all...I had her sister, Pepper to show. Miss Kayla, however, would have none of it and healed up very nicely, with no limp showing, so I showed her. To my delight, under breeder/judge Donna Cole, Kayla was awarded a Best of Winners for five points at the Alberta Boxer Specialty! The following day, at the Western Boxer Specialty, Neil Graves awarded her reserve. Kayla was also awarded a reserve win at one of the all-breed shows that weekend.

I was very pleased, while having pictures taken, Donna Cole commented on how well Kayla moved! I lifted up Kayla's leg and showed Donna the very fresh scar. She was amazed at how well Kayla did for having such an injury!

Kayla's finishing points were acquired a month later, winning Best of Breed over specials, and taking a Group Fourth!

Her next successes came in the whelping box. Having passed hip and SAS testing, Kayla was bred to Can Ch. Doll's Announces Vini Vidi Vici, SOM. This litter produced only three pups, one of which was a return pup to Sprucelane Kennels. This boy became Can Ch. Falconhurst's Ace Magnum. The other boy is our Rawley (Can/Nat Ch. Why Not News), and the girl is Can Ch. Falconhurst's Stateside News.

When this litter was almost four months old, we took Kayla to an International show in Las Vegas. Here she was awarded three Best of Breeds, and obtained her International title.

Later, Kayla went into co-ownership with PaintedC Kennels. Here she was bred to Cam/Am ch. Mephisto's War O'The Roses, SOM. Three more champions were bred from this litter, one being my puppy back, Can Ch. Falconhurst's Hometown News.

I am very proud of this girl for being my choice, then and now
