At each rodeo in the Dodge Showdown Pro Series, cowboys are allocated points, from 80 (first place) down to 10 (eighth place), in each of the six events. At the end of the season, the cowboy with the most points in each event receives the use of a new Dodge truck of their choice for a year.
The winners of the Dodge trucks in each of the events for last
year were:
Bill Boyd - Olds, Alberta -- Bareback Riding
Shane Parker - Redcliff, Alberta -- Saddle Bronc Riding
Karson Legault - Val Marie, Saskatchewan -- Bull Riding
Darren Shaw - Cardston, Alberta -- Calf Roping
Curtis Cassidy - Donalda, Alberta -- Steer Wrestling
Debbie Renger - Okotoks, Alberta -- Ladies Barrel Racing
Jay Lundy, the sponsorship coordinator for Dodge said, "Dodge wanted to provide bigger year end awards for rodeo contestants, while treating all rodeos equally."
Terry Hensel, with Hanna Chrysler put it this way, "It's a good deal for the cowboys and Dodge as well. We've been lucky to be able to.... participate in this program."
Dodge already provides a truck each to the high point and all-round champion of Canada in pro rodeo.
Trucks are also provided to the contractor with the best bareback and saddle bronc horses, as well as the best bull. Girletz Rodeo Stock and Kesler Rodeo Stock, both of which provide stock for the Cereal Pro Rodeo, have won trucks in the past.
Dodge and its dealers have been sponsoring pro rodeo in Canada since 1984.
This year's Cereal Pro Rodeo is July 8 and 9. Further information
