Swing away tire
carrier
New - A
stop to limit how far the carrier opens + a latch pin to hold the carrier in the
open position is now included.
- Mounts to the body of the van only.
There are NO
attachments to the rear door, bumper or hitch. This means you can use stock or
aftermarket bumpers.
- Alignment and movement problems are eliminated
by not having the latch on the door. This is stronger as well.
- When parked and camping, you can have the rear
door open and the tire carrier closed and latched. This means the weight
of the tire is not hanging on the hinge alone.
If the latch were on the door, this would not be possible.
- The hinge plate extends along nearly the
entire length of the door jamb, this increases the strength considerably.
- All fasteners are stainless steel.
Carrier is finished in black powder coat. All bolts are "Button head"
stainless allan socket type, low profile - almost flush.
- The closure mechanism is a heavy duty
automotive door latch. To open you just press a lever.
To close just shut like you are closing a car door, no fiddling with latches.
- This tire carrier will accommodate tires from
stock size up to 30.5" in diameter, alloy or steel rims, any offset. If
it will fit on a vanagon, it will fit on this carrier.
- Two tire carriers can be installed, one on
each side. One tire carrier occupies less than 1/2 of the door.
- The good side of the wheel can face in or out. If you have alloy wheels
you can have the more attractive side facing out, no tire cover is needed.
