Pam and Vern Gisler along
with Vern's brother Ernie decided after retiring from
dairy farming for 30 years in Alberta that they wanted to remain involved in the agricultural industry
in Canada, and at the same time enjoy a more relaxed livelihood.
They started their Boer Goat herd with 2
Boer Goat Does, named Bessie and Josie, in 1994. Merna became involved soon after and is now the
Boer Goat Herds person.
Gisler
Boer Goats have carried out 3 embryo transplants with embryos from South Africa
and have done flushings of our own does. Since 1994, we have progressed to a
herd of approximately 230 animals, with about 140 beautiful breeding does.
Our herd
consists of Full Blood Breeding Boer does and Boer bucks. - Full South African and South African/New Zealand Cross genetics. Our South African genetics
come from the Venter, Berger, Van Zyl and du Toit lines. Gisler Boer Goats
also have full blood commercial Boer does and Boer bucks. We take a lot of pride in
and maintain a good and clean herd. We raise both Traditional Boers and
Kalahari Red Boers.
