1936 Chevrolet Panel Wagon

Owner:
Ian Hurdle
Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada

When I went to pick it up, I couldn't believe the shape it was in. I was afraid some of the rotted pieces would fall off the trailer on the way to the shop.

Everyone figured I'd gone nuts when they saw it.

I couldn't find a wood kit for it, so we set up two band saws and table saws, along with other wood working equipment, and went to work on it.

It took four of us, about four weeks, to cut, mold, and fit all the wood required. There wasn't even a straight piece of metal.

Everyone who stopped in the shop, figured I was absolutely crazy, including myself.

The shop looked and smelled like a wood shop. The thought of "why would anyone want to restore something like that?", always came to mind but as you can see from the end results... I got my answer.

The customer also wanted a 4x4 to take his family skiing etc, so I located a 1989 S-15 4x4 and installed the running gear, on the original frame. The steering box had to go infront of the cross member. The battery box is a slide down, which is mounted under the running board to allow for servicing.

It took 12 months to complete this project, and hundreds of hours. What a challenge!

A rack for skis and another for bikes, was built to attach to the rear of the vehicle when required.
