This page contains a list of links I have found
very useful in my teaching. I hope it will provide a quick and
easy jumping off point for others in their teaching.
I take no credit for any of these wonderful
resources. I leave the creative work to all those who have
produced these resources. My role is simply to compile the
resources
in one place and arrange them in an easy to use format.

Enhance
Learning With Technology - Why use computers? What is there out
there? How do I get started? Answers for these and many other important
questions. A website from the teacher who taught me how to build my

Using Multimedia
Authoring Tools - A great series of tutorials that will help you
create super online presentations, multimedia portfolios, and web pages.
Little Explorers - Little
Explorers is a picture dictionary loaded with interactive links.
This page offers many ideas for using this valuable resource.
Cyberbee - This page is dedicated
to showing
teachers what they can do with their computer and internet connection.
Trackstar - Trackstar helps
educators organize and annotate web resources for use in lessons.
Create your own tracks and also check out tracks other teachers have
created.
Canada's SchoolNet - The
government of Canada's listing of top web resources.
Filamentality -
Filamentality is the fill in the blank interactive website
that guides you through picking a topic, searching the web, gathering
good Internet sites, and turning web resources into learning activities.
Here are the sites I used when building these
pages. They offer free images, backgrounds, and fonts with
educational themes. Always be sure you follow the rules about
downloading images and always credit the site where you obtained them.

2Learn - Telus
Learning Connection is a site where educators assess, create, and share
internet resources integrated with K-12 curriculum, projects, research
strategies, professional growth, and communication technologies.
Eduplace - Elementary resources for
teachers, students, and parents. Includes Reading/Language Arts, Math,
Science and Social Studies Centers, searchable activity database,
educational games and textbook support from Houghton Mifflin.
Edupuppy - A great
source of ideas for the primary grades.
Theme Units
These
sites offer themes to cover many subjects in the primary classroom.
Kinder Korner -
This site has lots of interdisciplinary lessons arranged in thematic
units. A great place for primary teachers!
Teaching is a Work
of Heart - A great place to look for teaching ideas, units,
lessons, links, and activities. Designed by a teacher who truly
loves teaching!
Gander Academy Themes
Page - This site from Gander Academy in Newfoundland is designed
for primary and elementary students and teachers. A great
collection of theme based units using the web.
Learning Pages
- Learning Pages is a huge collection of professionally produced
instructional materials for you to download and print.
Teaching With The
Web - Kennesaw State University links to many different
topics. Divided into K-2, 3-5, 6-8, and 9-12.

- The Four Blocks is a multimethod, multilevel literacy framework. This
site does an excellent job of explaining the Four Blocks framework and
providing the resources you need to successfully implement it.
Four
Blocks Slide Show - The powerpoint slide show at this site was
developed for parents and does a wonderful job of introducing Four
Blocks.

Blocks Site - The Four Blocks framework was developed by teachers
who
believed that to be successful in teaching ALL children to read and
write, we were going to have to teach it ALL. This is the
official site of the Four blocks developers. A must visit.
The Reading Lady - All things
Four Blocks and all things reading! Another must visit.

Blocks Downloads from The Reading Lady - An absolute gold mine for
the Four Blocks teacher! The Reading Lady has compiled a wide
assortment of files for download that no teacher should
be without.
Teachers.Net 4 Block Center -

Bits A Developmental Process - Souvenir bits is a great little
strategy to help children become more enthusiastic about reading.

Celebrating
Cultures with Tomi dePaola - Tomi dePaolo often writes
books that reflect other cultures. This is a webquest where
children choose one of his books and its related culture to learn
about.
Picture
Books to Teach Narrative Writing - An annotated bibliography of
children's literature that will serve both students and teachers as
models of good narrative writing.

Levels - Finding materials at the appropriate reading level is
essential. This site provides links to sites that will give you
the Reading Recovery levels of the books you are using.

Accelerated
Reader Levels - O.K. so this is sort of a backdoor way
of obtaining reading levels! This is a catalogue from an online
retailer. Click the quick search tab and put in the book
title, it will give you the AR level as well as info for
purchase.

Reading Counts E Catalogue - The online version of the Scholastic
catalogue which lists books according to the Fountas and Pinell system.
The Space Place
- Another very cool site for the younger set from NASA.

A Solar System - A very cool site from Exploratorium that
calculates the scale of each planet for your solar system model based
on
the size you choose to use for the sun.
