Santa
Monica, CA, February 27, 2004—Newmark/Echelon Entertainment
Group held press conferences for “A Tale Of Two Pizzas”
and “Wake” from 3pm-4pm in the press room of AFM in the
Santa Monica Loews Hotel, announcing theatrical releases for both.
Echelon Entertainment also announced it has Worldwide Rights for these
two films.
“Wake” hits Los Angeles and New York theaters April
16 and May 7, respectively. “A Tale Of Two Pizzas”
serves up spicy, romantic comedy to moviegoers in the Fall.
Wire Image has posted pictures from the AFM event and several other
attending media have expressed interest in doing articles on these films
and their releases.
Concurrently with AFM, a group of 60 “Wake” fans
screened the film in Las Vegas. People came from Canada, Australia,
Germany and other countries from around the world just for this event.
From the movie “Wake,” Oscar Winner Martin Landau,
“General Hospital’s” Blake Gibbons, and Rainer Judd
(“American Reunion”) appeared along with producer, Susie
Landau Finch, and director, Henry LeRoy Finch. Gale Harold could not
attend as he is currently shooting “Queer As Folk,” for
which he is the star, in Toronto.
Frank Vincent (“Goodfellas,” “Casino,” “Raging
Bull” and “The Sopranos” 2004 Season), Patti D’Arbanville
(“Third Watch” series regular as “Boscorelli’s”
mother and she’ll appear in three episodes of “The Sopranos”
airing 3/7/04, 3/14/04 and a date to be announced) Melissa Marsala (series
regular on “The West Wing” and “Six Feet Under”),
Conor Dubin (recently guest-starred on “Cold Case Files”),
Robin Paul (Jessica Martell on “Ed”), and Kelly Karbacz
(played Joanie Binder on the ABC show, “Regular Joe,” recently
guest-starred on “Without A Trace”) from “A Tale Of
Two Pizzas” were there along with director, Vinnie Sassone.
John Howard of Newmark/Echelon Entertainment Group served as moderator.
Veteran actor Martin Landau reflected on his participation in
“Wake” with stories of early days in summer stock and its
parallel: the freedom inherent in independent filmmaking. Director Finch
answered questions about the making of “Wake” and the intimate
shoot inside a Maine house built in 1745.
Director Vinnie Sassone described how using jazz music featuring Freddie
Cole’s vocals along with animated segments give the film pizzazz.
As witnessed by the attending press who watched a clip, comedic turns
by “The Sopranos” alumni Frank Vincent and Patti D’Arbanville
(along with Vincent Pastore who was unable to attend) didn’t hurt
either.
“Wake” brings four brothers together: Raymond the
ex-con, Kyle the sensitive one, Jack the drunken womanizer, and Sebastian,
the responsible one left to care for their dying mother. They reunite
in the house they grew up in, but what brings them all back together
will tear them apart as this dysfunctional family reunion soon turns
into a wake shaking the survivors to the core. “A Tale
Of Two Pizzas” features the Bianco and the Rossi families of Yonkers,
who have been feuding for years over pizza. When doodle artist Tony
Bianco agrees to help his father steal the secret of the Rossi's sauce
to win the neighborhood pizza contest, a pizza war breaks out.
