Port Royal is the second permanent European settlement in Canada after the Viking.
The Basque fishing settlements are considered seasonal quarters.
It is unknown if the early Chinese settlers actually established a colony in
western Canada.

The early French were an indentured lot.
The suppressive French rule forced many settlers to escape to freedom and become
Coureur de Bois.
1663 KING'S DAUGHTERS
The King's Daughters 1663-1673 arriving in Quebec. Some suggest they
began arriving earlier. The first Garneau into new France in 1659 is
believed to have married one of the first King's Daughters.

The Trudelle Cairn is located in L'Angle Gardens in honour of the first homesteaders.
Garneau was among the list of early settlers.

Louis Garnaud farmed 2 arpent that included river front property.
1 arpent = 5/6 acres. The small acreages are insufficient to prosper.
The photo is taken facing south to the Saint Lawrence River, to the north is a
major highway.
St Lusson the arrogant in 1671 claimed western America for France.
The rights of the native inhabitants to their own country were ignored by
this Frenchman.
