Meet... Coach David Owen
From x's and o's to abc's ... Encouraging children to read through their love of football!
David Owen has coached all aspects 
of tackle football from minor to 
university and beyond.  He has held 
many executive positions with 
football organizations and authored 
articles on coaching philosophy.  
Certified as a clinic course conductor
 through the National Coaching 
Certification Program (NCCP), David 
has received numerous coach-of-the-year 
and builder awards.


David has also had a life-long interest in education.  
He served on a metropolitan Board of Education for twenty years. 
 When he saw the opportunity to combine his passion for football 
and his commitment to supporting literacy among young people, 
he turned his considerable powers of persuasion into high gear.
 
“You're nuts!” said award-winning author Hazel Hutchins.  “I can't 
write about football.  I've never played it.  And I'm terrible at 
sports.  I was only allowed to stay on my junior basketball team
 because my friends cried when the coach tried to cut me!”

But with a son playing university football,and David as literary 
coach this time, the book became a reality.
