UPCOMING ACTIVITIES

Everyone is cordially invited to a combined Hanamatsuri Service
to be held at Honpa Temple at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 14, 2002.

Program and refreshments to follow the service.
Guest speaker is Rev. Jim Yanagihara from San Luis Obispo, California.
Families with young children are encouraged to attend, since activities for the children are planned.
Please note that since this is a combined service, donations are to be made to your own Temple.


Lethbridge and District Japanese Canadian Assoc. will hold their AGM on April 21, 2002 at 4:00 p.m. at Honpa Temple. Keynote speaker is Strini Reddy from Winnipeg. His topic is "Human Rights and Anti-racism." Following will be a potluck supper. Everyone is welcome to attend.

Please keep June 2, 2002 open to attend the Church picnic to be held at Henderson Horseshoe. Details to follow in next Newsletter.

BCC Youth Tour of Japan is set for July 28 - August 5, 2002. Young people between the ages of 15 and 25 years are eligible to apply for the tour. It is a wonderful opportunity for them to experience the culture of Japan and the roots of our Jodo Shinshu heritage, as well as meet other Buddhist youths from across Canada, the U.S., Brazil, Hawaii and Japan. Deadline for applying is May 1, 2002. If you have any questions please contact Sylvia Oishi at 328-5849.


NOTICES


Chow Mein Supper held March 9, 2002 was a huge success. Thank you to all who supported this annual event. Special thanks to the many volunteers who helped with the Chow Mein Supper and for the donations for bazaar items and raffle prizes.

Sensei Hattori will be at Honpa Temple on April 7 for the regular Sunday Service. Shotsuki-hoyo will be held on April 7 (no Shotsuki-hoyo on April 14).

BCC AGM will be held April 26 - 28, 2002. In case anyone has anything they would like raised at the meeting please contact Sylvia Oishi at 328-5849.

Next Board of Director's meeting - Sunday, May 5 at 11:00 a.m. after the service.
