Search for New Fire Chief Begins
After 9 1/2 years Fire Chief Jeff Carlisle will be saying his final good byes to Fort McMurray as he packs his bags and moves to Vernon, BC where he will be assuming the role of Fire Chief there. In Chiefs Carlisle’s time the department has seen many changes. Renovations to Station #1—Hawkins Station, Station #3 renovations and the opening of Station #4.
Chief Carlisle’s last day is April 23. The search for a new Fire Chief will begin shortly there after. Along with hiring a new Fire Chief, the Fire Department will be recruiting Firefighter EMT/Paramedics, Training Officers, Safety Codes Officers, and a couple of newly created positions. North America's 911 Fitness Challenge Results
Five of Fort McMurray's finest approached Jason Biggeman last December to be their personal trainer for a fitness challenge that went from January to April of 2008. Ryan Pitchers, Kurt Gudmundson, Jody Butz, Mathieu Dorval and Jeremy Dewald took on the venture of a 3 month lifestyle change which consisted of a rigorous training regimen and a strict diet in order to possibly win a trip to Las Vegas and get tickets to the UFC.
