Hello, my name is Jeff Intwert. I am a Charger enthusiast with a love for cars. I would personally like to see more of these unique vehicles at show and shines, and being that I am an Electronics Engineering graduate, and ironically an Instrumentation Mechanic by trade, I have recently decided to offer my services to fellow Chargarians in need.

The 1966 and 1967 Chargers are quite unique in that they have specialized equipment common only to 1960-1962 Chrysler 300’s, and 1961-1963 Chrysler Imperials. I can provide restoration services for the instrument cluster, the electroluminescent power supply, and the front and rear medallions.

The instrument cluster, I rewire the fuel, temperature and oil pressure gauges. I bypass the electro-mechanical internal regulator in the fuel gauge and install an external electronic regulator, then recalibrate all the gauges and tachometer. I repair then recondition the faces to their original finish using cleaners, not harsh abrasives. The gauge, tach and speedometer needles are repaired if needed and repainted. I have also right from the beginning painted the needles that they receive multiple coats to give the correct depth, without bleeding in the color. The odometer is cleaned and set to any mileage so required. All needle movements are lubricated.

Also, there is an e-bayer selling a gauge repair manual that explains the repair of the needles. I am the originator of that needle repair process. I can repair the gauges, tach and speedometer needles. The speedometer and tach, I am able to do without removing and replacing the needle movements, as yet another service provider does. This way, the units are minimally disturbed.

I can also repair the tachometers or simply replace the electronics with new technology provided from http://rt-eng.com/.

These are the new electronic voltage limiters

and the tachometer repair kits that I use in my builds.

I can also provide a complete turnaround service. I will restore the instrument cluster, remove and polish the lenses from the instrument bezel, then send the bezel to C.V. Vacuum Platers Inc. for plating. Once the bezel is received back, I will reassemble the entire cluster, retest it, and ship it via Canada Post Expedited parcel with insurance for repaired value to any destination. Turnaround is 8-10 weeks. This is the time required for the bezel replating, and is out of my control.

Here is a sample of my rear trunk medallion restoration, and my front grill emblem restoration.

I can also offer assistance in other areas as well if needed. For instance, the addition of electronic ignition or front disc brakes. I personally have done both to my ride.

I have been asked if I work on headlight motors also. Sorry, I have been fortunate enough that mine have always worked. Perhaps this will help, it is the Charger Supplement to the 1966 Dodge Service Manual.

I also have found a supplier of new reproduction stubby shaft thermostatic fan clutches. These will not only buy you 5-10 rear wheel horsepower, but also increase gas mileage, all while keeping your vehicle cool with the use of a stock 7-blade fan.

Oh yah, the car, she’s a 1of 2809, 383 4-sp cars produced for the 1966 model year. I have the numbers 383, but I now run her with a balanced .040” over 440 with a steel crank, Competitions Cam, Competitions Roller Rockers, and ported and polished aluminum Stealth heads from The 440 Source. The Carter high volume fuel pump feeds an 850 Thermoquad on top of an Edelbrock Performer. It has 69 HP manifolds, Mopar electronic ignition, a thermostatic fan clutch and 4 core rad, a Mancini Racing high volume water pump and aluminum thermostat housing, Centerforce clutch, 2 ½ Flowmaster exhaust, 11 inch front discs, a 3” seamless driveshaft with Spicer ends and 7290 u-joints, an 8 ¾ with a 3.23 rear gear in an Auburn Positraction with the Mopar green bearing upgrade along with an Addco rear sway bar all riding on Energy Suspensions polyurethane bushings and 14” magnum 500’s. Everything else on the car works also.
