The oven chamber begins...


You can see how the slabs hangs freely on the rebar. The rebar that runs front to back is set in the blocks the rebar that runs side to side is set on the blocks. The ash slot at the front is open to the bottom. Fire brick is laid on top of the hearth. They are not cemented together but are set in a 50/50 mixture of fire clay and sand.

 
   A sticky mixture that allows the bricks to be leveled and replaced in the future if needed.
   The walls have been mocked up and the lintle checked for level. Pavers have been cemented in under the firebricks at the front to bring them up to the same level as the oven floor. A little wine always goes well after a hard days work.
