I tried to picture someone named Mother Goose. I ignored the images I've seen in books and I could never imagine a person; only a goose. So my portrait of Mother Goose will be that of a goose; or, more accurately, a goose's feet and a nice juicy "goose-egg". This "egg", sunny side, up is a symbol of those inappropriate nursery rhymes which have accumulated over the years and which are the theme of this series of wood engravings.
