The English language contains fascinating (and confusing) elements. For instance, the words nose and knows are spelled differently and have totally different meanings, but sound the same. Words like this are called homonyms. This quirky English language element has been slipped into the title of this image that originates from the imagination of young Jim, who was a fan of radio mystery programs during the 40s and 50s (programs such as "Sky King", "The Whistler", "Sgt. Preston of the Yukon", "Gunsmoke" and "The Shadow"). The introduction for each of "The Shadow" programs was announced by a deep voice with dramatic pauses: "Who knows... what evil... lurks... in the hearts of men?... The SHADOW knows!"
