The unit uses air as a restraining medium to "catch" sheep as they move
through an open crush. On activating the crush an auto gate closure to
stop the entry of the next animal is an optional add-on. Because you
are
no longer working with a cage design full access to the animal is
available
for:
reading
eartags for performance
recording
vaccinations
weighing
crutching
capsule
drenching
fly
& lice control
The system includes
a
special base that provides for scales. These can be connected to the Iconix
FX41 weighing system and autodrafter so that sheep can be quickly,
accurately and efficiently weighed into preselected weight groups.
Unlike
other autodraft systems, the access to the animal means that dirty ones
can be crutched, lighter animals drenched or vaccinated. Once through
the
race completes the whole job.
Because
everything
is done by the use of a simple switch there is no physical effort so
those
that are less physically strong can easily operate the unit.
For very
dirty
animals the lift hoist allows for the rear end of the animal to be
elevated
so that complete access to the crutch is available.
And the hand held
remote
means the unit can be operated away from the crush - turning the whole
process into a one person operation if desired. If sheep stop running,
the remote means you can move down the race to get them started but
still
control entry in the crush area.
It is also possible
to clean dirty sheep from behind as they move through the crush.
