Welcome to

Kootenai Brown Pioneer Village

In Pincher Creek, Alberta, Canada

The CPR Caboose

This caboose was built in 1949 and serviced many a trains' brakeman and conductor. This home away from home provided sitting, cooking, eating and sleeping areas. The Spartan surroundings were vastly different from the posh passenger coaches first built during the late 1800's.

You will find a variety of railway artifacts and stories of the railroad in the caboose. You can climb to the top where the train crew was able to view the line of cars ahead. This fine overhead viewing platform provided the ideas for designing glass topped passenger coaches that regularly plied mountain rail routes.
