RECTA COMPASSES

RECTA, founded in 1897, originally manufactured chronographs. This precision based activity was the foundation of the skills required to design and manufacture the first compass in a pocket watch housing in 1914. The reputation of RECTA has been built around the skills required to design manufacture precision instruments for a world-wide use. In 1941, RECTA developed its famous "liquid filled matchbox" model (known as the Swiss Army Compass or DP model) which today is still used by armed forces around the world, who have both established and proven its unique reputation. This striking 39" x 26" lithograph is presented in natural color at a scale of 1:250,000. The image features location and names of popular backcountry huts, road symbols, and geographic locations of important towns. This scene from space was designed by Dr. Stan Wagon, a veteran of many trips into this interesting and alluring Canadian mountain range.
