ABC letter and sound game.
Use a die and buttons (as markers) to play the game.

When a player lands on a space with a letter he/she names it and says the sound it makes.  As the players become familiar with the game they can say words that begin with the letter they land on.

First player to get to the finish wins.

Addition and subtraction game.

Use the same pattern as the ABC game.  Instead of letters in the spaces use a simple addition or subtraction sentence.  For example, where the Aa is write 1 + 1 = _____   for Bb write 3 - 2 = ____ and so on.  If the child has trouble use lego blocks, cereal, fingers, or buttons as counters.  For more advanced children put just the number in the space and have the child make up the addition or subtraction sentence.  Example, the number in the space is 5.  The child could say, "2 + 3 = 5".
